Hello
I just purchased my first boat moored here in Lake Washington. I've taken it out a few times around the lake and would like to meet other family oriented boaters in this area. Thank you.

Congrats on the new boat. You're in a great place to really learn how to use it and master it.

Where are you mooring it?

Hello and welcome to the Sea Ray family! Are you planning on sticking to cruising on the lake or are you going to venture out into the Puget Sound? If you'd like to head out past the lake you might consider joining a local yacht club. I'm currently the Commodore of the Bellevue Yacht Club (cruising club) and it's a great place to meet more experienced boaters who are happy to share information and helpful advice. Our club focuses on cruising around the Puget Sound region throughout the year with a cruise to choose from 11 months of the year. Check out www.bellevueyachtclub.com for more information. We're a group of couples and families who just love to be out on the water! My husband and I joined in 2001 when we first got into boating and I still learn new things from other club members nearly every day.

Best of luck with your new boat!

Sandy

Thank you all for welcoming me. She is moored at Newport Shores. I'd check out the clubs but want to make sure it is family oriented not a bunch of adults drinking all the time (nothing wrong with that too btw). Yes I do plan to venture out to islands and ports in Puget Sound. In fact, that was the main reason why I purchased the boat and see how much we would like it. I think this 280DA is a great starter boat for me. Thank you all and look forward to meeting you in person this summer!

The Bellevue Yacht Club is definitely more family and cruising oriented. :) I think clubs are a great way to get introduced to new places to cruise and to hopefully avoid some of the pitfalls or mistakes that we've all experienced. Thanks for reaching out by email Calvin - looking forward to meeting your family this summer!

Thank you Sandy and look forward to meeting you and the rest in the near future.

I would also like to indorse The Bellevue Yacht Club, Sandy does a terrific job.

We were in the same situation as you a couple years ago when we purchased our first boat, a 2006 290DA. We moored it at the Newport Yacht Basin for the first year we had it, and Lake Washington was a great place to learn how to handle the boat. However, we really purchased this style and size of boat to overnight around the Sound, and we kind of felt trapped from doing that by the locks. Plus, Lake Washington can feel a bit claustrophobic on summer weekends with all of the other boating traffic. So we moved the boat closer to home and north to the Everett Marina and have been enjoying weekend trips around the Sound ever since.

Congrats on your purchase, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we've enjoyed ours.

Thank you both. For me, Newport Shore is close to my home and work. While my ultimate goal is to explore the Puget sound, I'd like to get to the boat when I want within 10-20 minutes and the protected lake would help me build both experiences and confidence as well. I am now pretty good at backing into my slip with a single engine! (Yeah!). If any of you folks are available around the lake, I'd be glad to meet and greet. Of course I plan to join one of the events Sandy is putting together to check out the club.
Velooce, are you located in Mercer Island?
Jason, I do have a few guys from work who moor their boats @ Everett as well.
