460 DA Owners Thread

Great looking job on the A/C, please update once you've used it in the dead of summer. I have to ask though, are your cup holders back lit with blue lights?

You got it! I installed it based on another members feedback from Houston Texas. Considering my location, Northern Michigan, I am confident it will be a great addition, especially in the cooler months like we have now. I launch on Friday so will keep you posted.

Yes, they are blue led cup holders...every now and again it can be hard to find a landing spot for a cocktail...LOL The lights guide us in. :)
For some reason I am having trouble uploading any images into the thread...not sure what is going on with it.
I also added RGB LED lights to my engine vents on each side connected to an RF remote. :smt038
You can see them here: http://s1050.photobucket.com/user/Thewolftc/library/Lights

The 2 cup holders next to the sliding bench and transom door seat are also LED blue...I had to run the wire through the locker to the other side of the boat, but that took 10 minutes. They are all connected to the "cockpit" light switch which are controlling the Lumitec courtesy lights that are also red, blue and white.

Launched the boat yesterday. Everything fired up beautifully. Later I went to grab a cold one and the old Norcold had ceased working. I think you guys jinxed me in this talk about replacing fridges.
Going in the morning to pick up a Nova Kool 9000 and I will let you know how I will trim it out. I have a couple of different options to consider. (The 15 year old fridge came out easily and is standing in the cockpit ready for disposal and yes, both cabin doors had to come off.)

I'm curious about this fridge deal. That Nova Kool is freezer on bottom, fridge on top. I've read that setup doesn't cool the fridge on top well enough for some guys because the cold air falls. Ecspecially where the temps reach 100 degrees outside in the summer months. Is there anyone reading that has replaced their Norcold with Vitrifrigo DP2600? How well did it go in? Sliding door gotta come off? How well does it fit in the 460 fridge space? Mine is almost 20yo so I know I'm on borrowed time and we don't leave much in it when we leave the boat.

I did that replacement last year - Norcold to the Vitrifrigo 2600 - and it's a perfect fit. Had to remove the sliding door to them the old out and new in, but wasn't hard. Love the new fridge. It's much quieter and has a bit more space.

The Vitrifrigo has a top freezer design just like the original Norcold with all the mechanicals on the back. Fortunately the 460DA has lots of room back there but over-heating is still a concern. I have seen a couple of owners cut in a vent to the port side of the fridge over the counter space. The Nova Kool is a different design in that all mechanicals are on the bottom with the fridge on the top (similar to many home refrigerators.). It has a bit more capacity than the Vitrifrigo (9 cu. Ft. versus 8 cu.ft.) and the rear casing is sealed with panels. It's a nice design.

I'm putting the Nova Kool in today. Will let you know if there any any negatives.

Does anyone make a fridge that is taller with the same footprint? I'd like to remove my TV and open the space above the Norcold so I could install a taller fridge.

30.5 quarts including the heat exchanger.

Edit: per engine so 61 quarts for both mains plus the generator. Plus the 3 gallons you will spill all over the bilge trying to get a dang funnel in the cap.

I have a 2002 460 Sundancer and the bow thruster shut down. Is there a circuit breaker anywhere or is there only inline fuses?

Mine did the same shortly after I got it. Turned out the fuse on the transom near the generator Racor (port side) burned out as it's designed to if you run the thruster too long and overheat the circuit. Replaced the fuse block and workd fine. Other than that, not sure there's a breaker since it's a 24V system.

Does anyone know if there's a breaker or fuse for the Splendide washer / wrinkler?
Had a load of laundry in last night and it stopped mid cycle with the drum half full of water and I couldn't get the cycle to resume.
None of the lights were lit and I couldn't get it to reset - I even read the manual and couldn't find anything useful.
Thanks

When I had my midberth torn apart this winter and the washer/wrinkler removed...I didn't see anything behind it like a fuse. It is simply plugged into an outlet box (duplex receptacle) that is mounted to a support wall. Nothing fancy...although it is on its own breaker in the main panel.

If you are sure the breaker on the panel has not tripped, you might have tripped a GFI outlet somewhere on the boat.

OK Thanks ... I'll see if I can dig into it this weekend and start tracking the power source.
I do have the washer / drier specific switch on the panel but don't see a GFI in the circuit.

I have factory all chain windlas. Anyone know what size the chain is. Want to order some chain markers?

It should be 5/16" but it is listed in the parts manual for the boat as well.

Can anybody please advise the likely model number of the Vetus Bowthruster fitted to my 2002 460 Sundancer.

I need the anodes and can not tell if there is one or two fitted.

Any advice greatly received

Thanks

Graham

Was 2002 the model year that they did away with balsa in the deck around hatches and openings on the 460's? I thought I remember reading somewhere about this and it was possibly a mid-year change?
