Anybody have any tips on how you replace the bulb in this type of housing?

I'm almost done with replacing everything to LED....but I can't figure out how to get these apart to access the bulbs.

Pretty sure you pull the light out of the ceiling from the outside ring. On my boat it was in pretty tight and I needed to start the separation from the ceiling with a flat head screwdriver, but be careful of the material on the ceiling. Once out you can access the bulb.

Agree on pulling them out by the outer ring. If they are the fixtures I think they are, they are held in by pretty strong springed clips. Watch out for those as you pull them out because if they catch one of your fingers it will really smart as I have found out the hard way more than once.

What are the AC and DC bulb types?
Thanks

My overhead fixtures look like the same ones and they take G4 2 pin 12 volt bulbs. I got warm white ones from Amazon for a good price and they work great.
Use a plastic scraper to get them started. The pull down points are 90 degrees off from the swivel points.
Once you do the first one and get the hang of it the rest will go quickly.

Hi, I have a 2000 340 Sundancer and looking to replace the 120VDC bayonet style bulbs in the recessed ceiling light fixtures. Do you know what is the LED replacement? It is not a screw in type.

the two recessed lights in my 2001 340DA are dual purpose lights....they have a screw base bulb for the 110VAC side (shown below) and a G4 style push in bulb for the 12VDC side (also shown below).....

this incandescent bulb can be hard to find but I found it at Amazon...

I used these LED bulbs to replace the incandescent G4 bulbs throughout the cabin....

The screw in type on my ‘98 310 are European base bulbs. I found on Amazon LED bulbs with good color, less draw, cooler running, no flicker and higher light output.
E14 3 watt dimmable bulbs.

This is just my opinion so take that for what it is.

I messed with these lights 3-4 times before replacing them. The amazon bulbs worked, some burned out quickly others were just slightly not correct, not all the color temps were the same ... then I gave up an bout limited mirage. They fit perfectly and look awesome. They can be had for 40 bucks each. 3 other boats on my dock have changed to them after coming on my boat.

Just my thoughts and opinions.

And the 12v LED bulbs I used for the same 2 over head lights and the 3 bar/kitchen/downward facing lights on the same switch.

The end result is omthe AC switch does he 2 overhead LEDS, or the DC switch lights both over hears and 3 galley ones. All same color.

Here is what I used i the head. (They also fit the bilge lights) They fit in the fixture, and are smart so they don’t care about polarity, and ware waterproof with shower.. really make head bright.

Yes I replaced those as well, BUT they are a ba15s base, but have to be super short to fit into the lense as it’s short. They look just like the arch fixtures that hold 41mm bulbs but dont.. not sure why. But here is the link.

Also here is the link to the mini flat 194 / wedges that work with the small foot lights in cabin (stair and by the step to the bed)

Also a note, on all the BA15S bulbs. The way that base works there is not “flipping” it to make polarity work with the LED. So you have the option of finding a smart LED that does not care, getting lucky, or flipping the white and Black 12v wires at the fixture.

My head was wired correctly, my bildge was backwards, and only one of the step lights in my cockpit was backwards... seams searay did not give a crap which way as incadecsnt bulbs work either way.... again this only
Matters to the BA15s bulbs as there is no way to flip them. Center is posative, outer is neg... on the festoon and dual poles, and wedge 194 you can just flip the bulb till it works.

Above I posted a smart BA15s that works in bilge and shower.. but to Big for steps.
