Since the "big boat/diesel" guys left because of wingnut, among other things, and started their own forum, the content here has decreased to a depressing level. I miss those days. I am as guilty as anyone as I have had no time to visit, much less post. But the loss of Gary, Hampton, Turtle and the Franks, to name a few, is really taking it's toll. Hopefully the site is just going through a natural ebb and will pick up soon. But it is kind of depressing.

Yep, I don't post anymore, it's simply not fun here anymore, I miss the old days.

I still come here looking for insight, knowledge and answers to questions re all things boating. I also still like to share my experiences and knowledge as well. Have to admit, I completely missed the fall out with the other members but have noticed I don't find the board with as many interesting topics. Just the other day, I tried to express some frustration with dealer service and impart some knowledge re prop installation and sort of got hammered for it. The thread quickly turned into a who's to blame thread. Anyway . . .

what exactly do you think is 'missing' from this forum now?.......I have read a LOT of older archived posts on various subjects.....many that pre-date my join date back in 2009.....about the only difference I noticed is that the forum seems a little more respectful now with less agitation from questionable posts and personal attacks and name calling and threats from a handful of members.....I hope that is not what you are missing from the forum today.....if so I personally am thankful for the transition.....I can honestly say that I would likely not have stayed a member of the forum if the environment was as harsh as it once was....not because I have thin skin....I am a big boy and can take care of myself without getting my feelings hurt....I just much prefer to keep things civilized with a light mood where all members feel comfortable participating and do not feel threatened by a few internet bullies.....

since I have little to no interaction with the members you identified I am in no way accusing these members of being part of the older group that regularly participated in 'uncomfortable' threads.....

I have to agree with you. Although this site is excellent for the collective amount of knowledge that gets shared on a daily basis, I have to say that it is rather tame around here. With the disappearance of the "Head Pot Stirrer", "Wingl_ss" & "Baysinker Wayne", who is going to step up to be Wingturd-2017 and get the blood boiling again? :smt021

I come here a couple times a day to skim the new posts but honestly only find one or two that interest me enough to read anymore. Still a great place for info but I do miss the banter.

I am new to THIS forum but am a member of alot of car forums, and boat forums.. and so far this place is good. Kinda slow on response time, or maybe I am just used to faster passed younger forusm that are thriving daily.

but there is alot of info and good info at that so far in my findings.

I understood your frustration in that thread, in fact I had a situation I was going to share but decided against it....I didn't want to hear all the excuses offered in defense of the high priced 'experts' that drug my new props down the road last fall or just last Friday tried to tell me that the locations marked 'lifting' are only for regular carry lifts....somehow when the 'experts' lift with their crane the slings can be elsewhere.

I could start a "your emperor has no clothes" thread if you want. Or maybe not. Probably better to stick to boating.

I enjoy this site and log on most days. Like Quality Time stated, I only find a couple of post that interest me. Yeah, I understand why, Sea Ray has been around for a while with a bunch of different year/models combinations AND only a small percent of the population owns a boat, more or less a Sea Ray. Therefore most posts don't interest or pertain to me. Guess it is just the nature of the beast.

Cincy Aquaholic, I hear you. Some of the responses you got on the prop reversal would of also frustrated me. That said, I found the back and forth banter entertaining and therefore engaging. Thank you for posting and thank you to who ever posted the counter point(s).

Guess the point of this post is just to sound off but I will end with a question. How to make this site more engaging/fun to a very small and diverse population pool?

I still see a lot of value from the site as a source of knowledge and resource sharing.
Maybe I wasn't part of the in crowd but I still see tremendous value. I haven't missed seeing the battle of opinions and crass remarks, as some were pretty unfair to the original posted question or request for help.
I've been feeling guilty about not sponsoring - so I will do so today.
I appreciate the effort to host a site such as this - Thanks

I also enjoy this site, but in my opinion it sorta caters to much larger boat owners, so I only read a couple of threads that may relate to my size of boating. I place a great value on the cumulative knowledge that resides here and would miss if it went away. May be a split? 2 forums, one for 30' and under and one for larger vessels? Just a suggestion for what it's worth....

You guys want me to post a question about Honda generators on swim platforms???

Can someone share the name of this other forum for the big boat/diesel guys?

I hear what you are all saying, but I like this forum. I check it almost daily. SloBurn - I have gotten in the habit of just going to the posts in the last 24 hours, but if you are interested in only one topic, there are separate forums for sport boats, cruisers, electronics, etc. I respond to questions that I have an answer to, but usually don't just chit chat or heckle people. I have noticed traffic varies on with the season, and day of week, but that is to be expected.
Problem is, most questions already have a thread somewhere, with lots of discussion and solutions. True new stuff is rare.
