As Cato's Pat Michaels says, "I've lived through eight environmental apocalypses ... overpopulation ... resource depletion ... Silent Spring ... global cooling ... acid rain ... the ozone hole ... global warming ... the next one is going to be ocean acidification."

Cant wait to hear the same old trope...

Huh. Come visit the western basin of Lake Erie in July. I can show you what the effects of flagrant disregard for the environment looks like. DO NOT bring a swimsuit - you won't want to put a toe in the water. :(

it is not "global warming" causing the issue. It is fertilizer use.

Which means it is time to play this again.

Have "Green neighbours" They own 3 cars one is a 1994 Suburban. Asked why they did not get a more efficient one. Cost too much. Green is good for them as long as it does not cost them Green. They also have a cottage with 4 boats some with old 2 stroke engines. Green people are like blow boat people if they could afford a cruiser they would. If they had a free parking spot they would drive to work.
Such is life. We have ranch and produce over 500 tonnes of carbon credits a year so I feel I do my part.

That doesn't offset the CO2 that those 454's produce does it?

I used to work in the residential audio/video and home automation business. We were working with a homeowner who owned a land development company. He was building a very large new home and wanted lots of cool AV equipment and money seemed to be no object. . Sensing an opportunity to increase the sale, I started talking to him about adding lighting control throughout his house, explaining how it was not only cool technology, but it also was a "green" product because he helped save energy, etc. etc.

I remember his reply to this day. "Son, I rape and pillage mother earth for a living. Do you really think I give a crap about being green?" He then proceeded to spend about $50k on lighting control because he thought the automation was cool!

Nope....CO2. Northern mentioned carbon credits, not being put to sleep by your Honda generator.

Now I'm puzzled - you mentioned 'offsetting the 'CO2' put out by the 454's' to paraphrase
I own a couple of those and they put out A LOT more CO as opposed to CO2 - Hell, I probably put out more CO2 than my big blocks do.

We also canoe in the artic. The water in the lakes and rivers is clean enough to drink without getting sick. Green people seem to think air is the bad thing. It is water if; you can not make ice what will we put in our rum and cola.

Great quote. How many thousands of people across the world actually feed their families by propagating the Global Warming cockamamie? Anytime you hear someone say that a complicated subject is "settled science" you know they're full of it. Nothing is "settled science," even something like the roundness of the Earth. Is the Earth spherical, or is it an oblate spheroid? Is it becoming more oblate with time? Is it because of the sun's gravity or some other reason? I'll bet you could pursue a PhD and write an entire doctoral thesis on the roundness of the Earth. Shutting down debate on Global Warming is important because it's a big lie. The fact is there is a lot of money to be made in Global Warming, whether it's government jobs, non-governmental organizations, educational grants to universities, etc.

I'm certainly not opposed to clean water, but there is so much "winking and nodding" going on between between the green groups and government, and they seem to obfuscate the biggest sources of pollution. For example, for several years I lived on the Mayo Peninsula, between the South and Rhode Rivers on Chesapeake Bay. For many years all the homes and businesses there had septic systems, and there was a moratorium on new building because of it. Then in the '90s the county government built a sewage treatment plant and required everybody to abandon their septic systems and hook up to the new sewer system. However, the new system was grossly undersized and every time it rained hard or during a power outage you could see thousands of gallons of raw sewage rushing into the South River. But groups like the Chesapeake Bay Foundation will tell you not to fertilize your lawn because the runoff of nutrients might hurt the blue crabs.

I think Earth Day is stupid.

You know, on a car they check emissions by sticking a probe up the tail pipe, :smt043
