Planning out our trips for this coming season and we would definitely like to do this one weekend. Last season I called around but I think I got the wrong info. Alex do you have a contact for the dockmaster who manages the moorings?

I just spoke to the dockmaster and would like to point out few facts to set proper expectations:

1. There's a small mooring field operating on the first come first serve basis. Knowing exact dates, I plan on communicating with the dockmaster and see if he can reserve the balls for us. There are only 5 mooring balls that can accommodate 50'ers and about 10+ that will take 35'ers. They expect to have total of 26-28 mooring balls.
2. I was told that on a calm night we will be allowed to raft two boats per mooring. However, the larger vessels (45-50'ers) can only have smaller boats tie up to them.
3. In case if we run out mooring balls, there are few options to anchor. There's limited room inside mooring field and quite a bit room outside. If the winds in our favor, then it will be no problem using outside anchorage area.

Outstanding questions:

1. What date are we looking at?
2. Who's interested in participating?

The restaurant manages the mooring field. I would start there, but the website says they are closed for the season. Maybe you can call their other location?

So, who is going to start the 2017 thread for this????? My summer has not even started yet and we already have entire weeks blocked out with stuff going on in both July and August.
 
We're in I'm sure. Harold maybe this could serve as your northshore trip we could move around a little for the weekend. Just an idea.
 
I am interested in this as well but is dependant on dates.

I would suggest doing the trip to playland at the beginning of the season. It seems as everyone's schedule gets filled quick towards the season end.
 
Don't you guys do a Memorial Day, statue of liberty and So. LI trip? I'm still waiting on the thread for that one.
 
I'm not sure if we'll make the Memorial Day trip this year. The Admiral loves that trip but I always complain about the 2 1/2 tanks of gas it takes to get there but we'll see. If we don't make it to Jones beach we are thinking of going to Playland instead. If we DO make the trip then we are planning to go to Playland the 3rd week of June when the kids are out of school.

It wont be the same without you guys, so I hope you can make it. We are worth the fuel bill, aren't we????
