There have been many questions regarding our new Auto Trim Pro and having Tab position displayed on hydraulic systems without using sensors. Particularly since the Mente auto tab claims that it can display Tab position without sensors.

The only sure method to get a consistent and accurate tab position indication readings with Hydraulic systems is with sensors. We can do it, but we have chosen not to. What happens, including with Mente’s system is that since the system is calculating tab position, eventually it can get completely lost, showing a completely inaccurate reading. Often the two trim tabs in a hydraulic system will run at slightly different speeds, this cannot be accounted for with out sensors. This is only the case with hydraulic systems and not with electric.

Another thing to note is that our hydraulic indication is the only true indication. Our sensors will indicate 10 LED positions per side with perfect, repeatable accuracy. Mente’s is only 5 per side and can get completely lost over time.

Wow! That looks like a great product. I think I may add it to the list of upgrade items I want to do to my 2002 410 but I looked at your video for them and didn't see any larger cruisers.

Good question! Larger cruisers will respond fantastically to the Auto Trim. They are less affected by weight shifts and sea conditions than the smaller boats illustrated so they are easier to control. The smaller boats we use in the video are easy to change the balance by moving one person around and see the Auto Trim respond and show how it works.

Here it is installed on a Regal 42 Grande Coupe.

Thanks! Can the automatic feature be turned off and still provide the ability to revert back to manual control if wanted? One instance where I would want to be able to manually control the tabs (usually fully retracted) is going in or out of an inlet in sloppy conditions.

Yes, it can be turned off, or if you simply push any one of the manual control switches it turns off and you have full control, sort of like touching the brake pedal when your cruise control is on. And you can always tap the "all up" button and they will fully retract.
