upgraded both ways there! When I first got a diesel boat, diesel was about $1/gallon cheaper than gasoline. And the diesel powered boat was more efficient than the gas powered one. So I did a calculation on how much I was saving on every mile, and I convinced my then wife that "the more we run the boat, the more we save".
I am now divorced from that wife.
And I now have an even bigger boat then the one I had at the time...
My wife didn't like the handheld shower on our old boat or the fact that the whole head got wet whenever we showered. The best solution to that was a boat with a separate shower which would be a 380 in the years we were looking at. If we were going for a 380 with gassers why not consider a 410 with diesels, and so it went.......
Luckily my dock space can only accommodate a boat with an LOA of 50 feet or we would have started to justify looking at 460's.
We just moved marinas. I was asked why I got a 70' slip for my 50' boat. Hmmmmm, why would I do something like that?
