I've been doing this for years, and am passing it on to those who struggle with fuel/oil dripping all over the bilge/motor area. A lot of people hate doing this and hire some to do it instead. I change everything at the end of the season, i keep a few empty jugs of marine antifreeze around after winterizing the water system/motors. I cut the side & top off without losing the integrity of the handle. Spin the filters so they spin by hand, place the jug under the filter. It will catch EVERY DROP of fuel/oil. hold the jug high enough so the filter touches the bottom, so when the filter comes off, it drops into the jug. It will stay standing as you place it aside. Do all the others, then carry them all to your car/truck for disposal. They do not tip over either. Please let me know if you think this is helpful? I have many more tricks to possibly post. Thanks.

I save my tall plastic maxwelhouse coffee containers for the oil and the fuel filters.I save the antifreeze jugs to drain the cooling system and change zinks and flush the exchangers and aftercoolers.

Bring them on!

I was on the right track, cutting the bottle in half and letting the filter drop into it, but the handle is a great idea. Thanks for the tip.
