Great article on Sunbrella Care/Cleaning

Yep, a good article. Oxy-clean is an example of an enzyme cleaner. When using vinegar and water to clean fabrics, a 50/50 mix is normal.

I used 50/50 vinegar mix in spray bottle for quick cleanings during the season.
This may sound crazy, but I also got in the habit of washing it every to years in a commercial washing machine (cup of bleach with detergent to the wash), letting it air dry, and then re-water proofing it.
It worked like a charm. The deep cleaning in the machine made the canvas look brand new and kept it in great shape.
Yes, I occasionally had to get some seams re-stitched (which was cheaper than you think) but the canvas itself held up beautifully.

The majority of our canvas has isinglass. I wasn't aware that you could put that into a washing machine? Cold water only I assume?

I wouldn't put those in a washing machine.

Guys,
I bought a product called Kaneberra Gel. It comes in a container. U simply open the cap and let it sit in the cockpit. After about a month in mid summer the mildew started to disappear. This was 3 years ago. Canvas has been mildew free ever since. It does take a considerable amount of time to start working but it does work.

So once u get it clean if purchase the kanenerra and it wil never return.

Rob - one of my buddies in our yacht club told me about that product. I bought a container and opened it and left it in the cockpit. The boat is at the boat yard getting annual maintenance right now. Will attack the canvas again once it's back in our possession. Thanks for the suggestion! I actually got a second container for our salon. Can't hurt, right? I love that you can just buy refills of the gel too.

I put canvas in the washing machine, but never eisenglass. Any pieces with eisenglass, or similar product, get hand washed.
