Been around boats for most of my life.

First boat I actually owned was an old Bayliner 26' deckboat with a Force 150 cylinder 2-stroke on it. Bought that in 9/09. Used that on the NY Finger Lakes for a few years. Really was an old clunker, but could move a bunch of people around comfortably at about 8kts, so it did exactly what I needed it to do :)

Second boat I bought around December 2013. 1996 Four Winns 245 Sundowner. Pretty well cared for (or so I thought). Did some upgrades, had to replace a floor, and other odds and ends. Didn't get it in the water until 6/15. Perfect boat for the wife and I. Used it about 2 dozen times that first year. Got it in late this year, first time out, has a cylinder misfire. No problem. Just do a tune up, easy stuff. Seemed like a similar engine to my old 88 5.0 Mustang, but this was a Windsor (sorry, Volvo Penta 5.8EFI). Very very long story short, spark plugs were corrosion-seized into the heads. Even with manifolds and risers off, the only way to remove them was to break insulators, drill out with glass drill bit until insulator was no more, jam a #6 extractor in there and pray for release. I got them all out. Used a borescope with a small magnet on the end to get things out of the cylinders, a small vacuum to do the same. Put it back together, and found that I had missed a chunk of a drill bit in #2. Shortening the story further, it's now got a new long block, and runs better than ever. Hopefully selling it tonight.

Third boat, we're closing on tomorrow. 2001 380DA. Under 300 hours, and picked it up for a relative steal. Will be bringing it up to Lake Ontario from Erie sometime soon, and will have my first experience through locks in the Welland Canal. Should be interesting.

Cliffs: broke some spark plugs in 24' cuddy boat, got pissed off, bought big honker boat.

Good luck with the Sea Ray!

Welcome to CSR!

Welcome! we're not far from you, over in Rochester at Southpoint Marina on Irondequoit Bay. We had a trip planned for wilson this coming weekend, but i ruptured my achilles and had surgery so had to put it on hold. I've heard Wilson is a great place to visit, so we're looking forward to it for next year.

Nice choice on the 380. We will begin looking in the next year or two and the 380 along with 400/410 will be on our short list.

Nice area. A bit shallow down there, from what I remember. We actually looked at an 02 380 on your bay a few weeks ago. Private marina, up on the East side of the bay, mostly facing the channel. Really nice boat. Still for sale, I do believe.

Shame about the interrupted trip. I'm sure we'll see you there next year. We'll be docked at Wilson Boatyard Marina. Great place, and fantastic owner.

Trying to get out to Sodus Point before the end of the season, but it depends on when we get the thing up here and sorted.

No question it's shallow. we have 3' under the keel right now and it will continue to go down. I think I know the boat you mean, it is very nice. He stores it in our marina's parking lot over the winter. Good luck on the welland, I've heard it's quite the experience. Post back with pictures if you take any on the trip

First, congrats and welcome.

Second, excellent.... no superb...... choice in a boat.... a tad newer than mine, but the same. You will love it.

Third, are you closing on the boat from Frauenheim's brokerage?

Fourth, we just traversed the mighty Welland in August - both directions. It's no biggie, just takes a LOOOOONNG TIME. And we weren't too bad at 4:45 hours downbound, and just under 9 hours upbound.

1) thanks :)
2) yep, I've seen VERY few differences along the model run. We were definitely looking for the best bang for the buck
3) That's the exact one. Seriously smooth experience. I've been nothing but impressed by Tom's professionalism.
4) That helps the slight nervousness, and we're going to have our marina owner on board as well.

Closed last Friday. Met with broker Tom on Saturday morning. Spent a bunch of time with me on the controls. First time on twins, and it went very well. Did a bunch of slip docking, parallel docking, and general low speed navigating. Shockingly easier to deal with than my 24' 4-Winns I/O. Took some folks out Sunday for a little cruise up the Niagara River. Tuesday, wife and I went out solo. Checked out Lake Erie, Buffalo waterfront, inner harbor, etc.

I'm still in the "I can't believe this is mine" mode, and can't get the smile off of my face. It's crazy.

Our Marina owner Kevin is doing the Welland trip with us, and he's not available until next Friday, so we're still on your waters for a week. We'll take advantage of the time there though, go do some exploring and such. Tomorrow looks pretty decent, although Saturday/Sunday not as much.

There's a big Poker Run Saturday (rain or shine I'm sure) on the river, canal, and maybe the lake. Lots of go-fasts to watch. If you head down to the Tonawanda Gateway Harbor, wave at us on Island Time.... we're on the north wall this weekend.

I'll keep an eye out. Haven't gone up into that area yet. Although, once we finished up with the survey a couple of weeks ago, we headed over to Dockside on Sweeny to grab some food and drinks. Sat down, looked across the canal, and look what we saw. Maybe it was yours?

And we're finally heading up to Ontario tomorrow morning. Good meeting you the other night.
