Engines
Olds/Berkeley 455-2 with a Berkeley12JC-A Pump
I bought this boat last year, its fairly rare in that it was powered by an Olds 455 and a Berkeley Jet Drive. There is no engine or jet drive and no fuel tank. Also missing the interior. Floor and stringers are rotten and will need to be replaced, i have started on the demo. The transom seems to be very solid with no soft spots that i have found. Outside has a few nicks and scuffs, the electrical system is in great shape, new ignition switch with two keys. Boat is currently registered in TX as a non-titled boat, and is an early 72 without an HIN. Tags are expired, have all the paperwork to get it registered and overall this would be a great boat to restore and has alot of potential, with the Olds 455 and jet drive this should have no problems doing 45-55 on the water and pull anything you wanted. I'm going to be moving out of state soon and just wont have the time to put into it and don't want to drag it across the county so im putting it up for sale as a best offer type of deal. A good olds 455 isn't hard to find, or it wouldn't be hard at all to install a modern carbed LS 5.3 and probably run alittle faster with better fuel mileage than the old big block.

The last pic is the current condition, i do have some of the original interior panels that were in decent shape to use to make new panels and some of the aluminum trim.

AGAIN: THERE IS NO ENGINE OR JET DRIVE OR FUEL TANK! I took these pics a few months ago when i started working on tearing out the floors and then i found out i am being relocated. Any questions feel free to ask, like i said i feel this has alot of potential, i had thoughts myself of doing a late model 5.3 that you can find for less than 500 buck, and with some minor upgrades can make the same kind of power the original 455 did for about half the weight and be alot better on fuel.

After working on some 70's and 80's restoration projects, and given the current condition, and text provided, you may end up just giving this boat away, or submitting her to Davy Jones. I recently cut up a boat that had a running motor and drive assembly. I couldn't get $200 for the boat, but I got $3000.00 for all the parts after it was stripped.

Your probably right, i listed it on ebay for 150 starting bid no reserve since you can list for free now. Will cost me 60 bucks in ebay fees if it sells lol.

My little 187 1979 Beach Craft...Almost fully restored, and I didn't want to do it....Got it almost free, and $7,000 later (Interior, Engine Drive/Parts, Electrical, etc), and I'd be lucky to get $3-4000 out of it. :smt089

Nice looking float, and yes unfortunately in this game you will never get back what you put into them.
