RE: 390 Sundancer Rainwater in Bilge

Water was entering my bilge from missing caulk in the seams of the fiberglass intake top covers over the stern port and starboard air intake baffles.

Any one solve the issue of "No Screen" on the cabin door yet? I was thinking of leaving the top section closed and making a rectangle screen for the door opening? Any other ideas?
Mike

I made a screen which we attach via velcro at four corners. Used marine-grade screen material Phifertex Mesh Black with black binding around the edges and some sewn-in velcro in the corners. Simple, easy to store (foldsup), and outsiders can't see in during the day.

Looking at a 2010 any pointers I should look for?

Thanks,

Hello everyone! Quick question in regards to our 04' 390. We are having fresh water pump issues. The pump activates but we get a pulsing water flow out of the faucets, so we will probably be replacing that unit. We also cannot find the water tank, can any one shed some light on how to access it?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Water issue may be coming from a clogged water filter to the galley sink... will investigate further.... But still cannot find the water tank!

Hello Fellow 390 Owners!
I recently purchased a 2005 390 and have no less than 278 questions to ask.
Here goes #1:
My anchor toggle switch at the helm only allows me to drop the anchor, not retrieve it. Is this a safety feature or is my toggle switch broken? My foot pedals on the bow allow both actions. Thank you in advance for some clarity!

Not a safety function. You should be able to deploy and retrieve the anchor from the helm. Pull the rocker switch and ensure wires are connected.

Thanks Tman! I'm on it!

Have a 2010 390 DA. Trying to understand where water in the mid-bilge would come from if not the two sumps. Not sure if all 390 DA's have two sumps but this was a fresh water boat so no over board gray water.

Now being in salt water looking to connect the sinks to go over board. The appropriate thru hulls are installed. Anyone know where the access to the port side thru hulls are?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Hi Rob,

I believe I found them behind the aft cabin closet. On my 2005 390, there is an access panel screwed to the rear wall of the closet. Once inside I found the drip pan for the galley AC unit and a small access to the port through hulls. Not sure if it will be the same on a 2010 but worth a look.

Thanks for the reply.

I believe the 2005 390 DA is the same as the 2010 40 DA. The in the 2010 390 DA is under the master stateroom berth.

I believe there must be a hatch but it is somewhere in the galley.

Thanks,

Rob

I'm not sure what a freshwater boat has to do with greywater (unless you have the optional grey water holding tank). My boat was "freshwater" when I purchased her and all sinks empty overboard. The shower and the AC drip pans collect in a sump that pumps overboard.

Most lakes, at least here in the Northeast, will not allow anything to be dumped overboard. All grey water, including AC condensation water, has to go into a holding tank. On the boat I have the macerator was also mechanically plugged and electrically disconnected.

The macerator has been reconnected and the sumps go over board but was wanting to reduce the sump count down to one and take advantage of the thru hulls that are now plugged.

Thanks for the reply.

Hello All,
I'm having problems with my helm windlass controls. Is the power switch on the left supposed to remain on when toggled down or is it a press and hold type? I ordered a replacement and was sent a MOM switch (momentary-on-momentary) that needs to be held down in order to use the toggle that raises and lowers the anchor. This seems cumbersome to say the least. Any info as to now your controls work will REALLY be appreciated! THANKS!

Update....

The thru hulls I was looking for are located behind an access panels under the galley and head sinks. When converted to gray water into black water holding tank, the original hoses where plugged with caulk. After removing the caulk I was able to reconnect and have the sink gray water go directly over board instead of to the additional sump that was added. This sump is now removed and I am replacing with Rule sump with a new sump that has a 1000GPH Johnson pump. This is a much better arrangement that the Rule setup provided by Sea Ray.

The power switch is momentary on and off and should not be held. It controls a latching relay that supplies power to the windlass.
On my boat up turns power on and the switch is lighted to indicate power is present. Down is off.

Hello All. I am new to this forum. Just purchased a 2005 390DA a couple of weeks ago. Right now I am in the process of changing oils, impellers, filters, belts, etc. One problem I just started having is that when I turn on the fresh water pump water starts shooting out of the dock water connector into the transom locker. This started just a couple of days ago and it doesn't do it all the time. I'm thinking a bad check-valve in there somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks.
