Early season Lake Erie trip to PIB

Cool! Love it up there. Wife and I have been making annual summer trips to Put-in-Bay since 1986......only missed a few times.

Cool! That must've been Saturday? I was on your pier for a few hours yesterday. I took this from behind your boat at 2:00. Your boat was closed up. Friends of mine took delivery of this 420DA and headed out to Michigan.

Nice video!!! Your kids look so cute on minute 1:15...... the admiral looks concentrated in something else, maybe facebooking :)

I must have just missed you or maybe we crossed paths. Were you drinking champagne out of a flute or beer? I've been drooling over that boat for the last two weeks. She is gorgeous.

Did they trade that 340 in on her that was tied up behind it?

Thanks they are fun. The little guy is going to be a real handful this year on the boat. Luckily he likes his life jacket because it wont be coming off. I'm sure shew was concentrating on something important... Honestly she was probably reading about Ironman training. Shes running her first half Ironman Tri in august.

I was running Lake Erie Friday. Took delivery of our new boat at 10am. Fueled up, shook hands and shoved off. Blew a motor by 11am. Idled all the way back to Belle Maer from PIB. 16 hours.

At least the weather was good.

Ouch! Hopefully your covered by some sort of guarantee? Sorry to hear of your troubles.

lol yup, the champagne was flowing. They were expecting a crowd of people on the inaugural cruise and provisioned champagne accordingly, but there were only 5 us, so we did the best we could to lighten the load.

Yes, that 340 is their trade. The 420 was brokered, but Skipper B's took the 340 in and apparently already have a buyer.

@#$%&!!! What happened?

I came down to CP from MacRay on Friday afternoon - I wonder why I didn't see you. I hope you weren't waked by an oblivious guy in a 400DA!

$hit happens... At least the guys with me were good sports about it. I didn't have to listen to 16 hours of ribbing about how their boats have 2 working motors... :smt043Ok, maybe I did.

I decided early in the failure that one day it was going to make a good story. It's quite the topic of discussion lately.

RollerCoastr: I'm surprised you didn't see us either. We weren't going anywhere fast

Looks like I lost a water pump, overheated and one or more of the rods got tired of living in the dark inside the engine. Those 350s sure do pump all the oil out fast...

This is not the first time that I hear people losing an engine on the first run. What is it?
