What about those of us who tow to the water? Lets see your tow rigs.

All cleaned up!

Time for an upgrade! 2011 F 150 Ecoboost. Just got back from Okoboji - compared to the Pathfinder, it was sooo nice.

No tow vehicle for Beachcomber, but here's our setup for Little Beach.

I had a helluva time getting the right trailer for the Whaler. The one that came with it was overloaded with the boat on it, the second one I bought had the carrying capacity but was a few inches too narrow between the wheel wells. It came with a 12' jon boat and a 7hp motor so I put the first trailer under the jon boat and sold it as a package and made a couple hundred bucks on it. The second trailer I put under an Achilles dinghy I had and sold it. The gave me the bucks to buy a new EZ Loader trailer. This one was too long so axles and cross members had to be moved forward, the winch stand moved back, and the trailer cut down by about 2'.

Finally the trailer fits the boat and it tows like it wasn't even back there.

Reviving an old thread....

The weather here has been amazing the past couple of days and I've been able to enjoy it on the water. This afternoon I got her all cleaned up before getting her tucked back in for a few days. I tow my '97 Cobalt with my '04 Tahoe Z71 and both look like they rolled off the showroom yesterday. From this angle the boat dwarfs the truck but it's not that dramatic in person.

I know that when I asked here there were/are many opinions about the Ford 6.0 PowerStroke but I did a lot of research and found an '06 with no modifications. The reports were that the '06-'07 were the ones to buy. Plus the dealer split the cost of an extended service plan that covers any of the potential disasters. It only had 68,000 miles and had everything I needed. The 12,400 lb. capacity is more than I need right now but looking at 5th wheels.

And I like Fords....

This year, I will be pulling my boat with a 2011 Toyota Sequoia Platinum.

I'm pulling with a 2014 1500 Silverado LTZ - (good thing there are not many hills here in Fla, I'm at about my limit) But the two go together nicely.

Here's my tow rig for Beachcomber. 1981 Toyota 2WD that's been in GW's family since day one. We all use it to haul stuff to the landfill, pick up big items, etc.

I'm the only one who tows a boat with it.

After 12 years with my 2004 Tahoe Z71 it was time for me to upgrade to a 2016 Yukon Denali. I test drove close to 15 vehicles until I finally found the one that's perfect for me. It had 12 miles on the odometer when I picked it up last week and I already have over 500 miles on it. She's fun to drive and rides like a dream...

I sold my Tahoe to a friend who runs the parts department at a local Chevy dealer and he's as meticulous as me when it comes to maintaining vehicles. When I handed him the keys, the old Tahoe looked as good as the day I bought it in 2004.

Here's the new baby with a pic of the old one at the end.

Nice one! I guess your good to go for another twelve years.

Better late than never???? Here's a shot of our 98 Exploder that I've owned since new and our 1981 Whaler 130 Sport that we bought in 2014. We keep both down in AZ so we can boat down there. The Whaler was fully restored before we bought it including all new wiring, new gelcoat, new wood, new seats, etc.
