First Born's Audio makeover

Awesome makeover! That JL stuff is suuuuuweeeeet! Did you go with any satellite radio?

Think about it this way: Your fuel economy will improve now that your wallet is lighter. That system will save you money in the long run.

Nice clean installation. Looks good.

Looks great! Is there a sub?

No we went with out a sub. We were going to have one installed but to be honest could not find a location I was happy with. I did not want a box on the floor. That is why we went with these JL Audio speakers. They had another boat in the shop they were putting them in and they let me go down and listen prior to me purchasing. I promise it is as loud as I will ever need. I saw the other day that the 2008 have a option for a sub, maybe someone will tell us where they are placing them from the factory cause I had a hard time finding a place I would be happy with.

I did not go with Saltellite radio, not sure why I did not think of that as the radio is satellite ready I think. The Receiver is a Sony CTX-GT520. For some reason I thought they only had XM and I am more of a Sirus fan. Maybe will add down the road.

Who cleaned your boat??? My boat doesnt look like that when it comes out of the shop!

Also, who did the speaker install for you?

I clean my boat, this place is a top notch shop. They do not get into your boat without taking their shoes off. Of course I thought they got it pretty dirty compared to the way it was when I took it in there but we will get it back clean. They work on alot of Wakeboard boats as they are located in between two wakeboard dealers. The shop is called Freeman's Stero Video.

I needed to have two holes cut in the bow and they were the only one in Charlotte that I was aware that would actually do it. I went to our dealer and asked who did they use and they said the only company they would use was Freeman's. So it made the decision a little easier.

did we get the specs of your audio upgrade?

I posted in another thread but I will post again since this is probably the better place for it.

4 6.5 JL Audio Marine speakers
Sony CDX-GT520 Receiver
Sony Marine Commander Remote
JL Audio 4300 Marine AMP
Extra Battery
Battery switch
2 20" Neon Red Tubes
4 9" Neon Red Tubes
2 Custom made marine speaker adaptors - on the rear speakers the cut outs were too large due to the way the old speakers were made so they had to make that look right.

I like the pop-up outdoor TV's they show on their site. Wes, Poly Planar makes a cool subwoofer that comes in a box. You can mount it in a hidden spot on your boat.

Jeremy (bunny slippers) Note: The pictures were taken right after pulling into the garage from the shop. The dirt will be removed prior to heading to the lake this weekend. I can't believe I am saying this but I sure hope it does not rain all day Saturday.

Now worries Wesley.... they did not get it too bad.... if you want a dealership to really dirty up your boat I have an address for you.

The install is very very clean. I really like the choices you made. Great job!!! I need to check into this sport boats section more often... there is some cool stuff being done :)

Wes, now you got me thinking its time for an audio upgrade. Nice work and your cleanliness and attention to detail has me giving you a big thumbs up. I have started on my boat after a winter of detailing my SS Camaro. If you have any great tips, feel free to pass them on. Your pics really show you take great care of you SR!

Awesome Wes...the lights look great, and you got a good quality audio system, and the install looks fantastic!

No sub? The difference in sound is instrumental! You simply cannot go without a sub on the water when cruising. The speakers you have cannot compete with the roar of motor and ambient noise. They will sound awesome now, have you tried them on the water yet? The woofer will make a huge difference in any event.

The subwoofer on ours that came from the factory is under the dash and cooler on the port side...Ill take a pic today. Mounted right to the wall on a 45 degree.

Thanks we got to try them this weekend and even at full throttle the sound is awesome. We could not be happier. It is pretty amazing as the other speakers (factory panasonic) could not be heard even sitting right beside them at cruise however with these no matter where we were sitting the sound was crystal clear.

One thing I do need to check into when I hit the trim button you hear a click in the speaker. No one else noticed it but I did; it was subtle but it was there and I can't think of what would be causing it.

I would love to see a picture of your sub set-up.

Hmmm...I would think you would be losing a lot of bass without a sub, but man, the speakers out today get better by the month it seems. Perhaps the boat itself is acting like a subwoofer anyway?

I will take a pic Tuesday night. For some reason, my digi camera does not want to chat with iPhoto all of a sudden on my home laptop, but works fine here at work. Ill snap a pic tonight and post tomorrow.

Wes....pic of the subwoofer under port side cooler....
