2015-16 Football thread - any team banter welcome.

I was just starting to open a thread for 2016 & hit Post in the last 24 hours first glad I did.

The way things are working out he may have a new contract this year if they can make everyone happy with the salary cap. He still has a year left on his rookie contract for $1.5 mil, if they don't come to a deal this year they will make him a Franchise Player after next season. This was in a press release last week if you read between the lines.

GO COLTS !!!!! want to see them in the SB & lose of course to the Hawks.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!

My impression of Russell Wilson is that he's not a greedy bustard and will come to some terms with the Hawks. He likes where he is and I think he'll stay.

OK, who is going to be the first on to rain on the Pat's parade? Won't be me.

I kinda felt like we had a thread for that... LOL

From the college perspective, is there anything else to say other than:

THE Ohio State Buckeyes

I agree that Wilson will come to terms with the Seahawks. I think, and I hope I'm right, that this kid has too much class to get into an ugly negotiation scenario. Plus the off-season has just produced 2 things he didn't have last year....receivers.

Let's play what if.... for a moment. What if the "PLAY" in the Super Bowl had that pass going to Jimmy Graham? I doubt it gets intercepted....game over. I think Mr.Wilson wants a chance to replay a Super Bowl and I think they have a really good chance to be there again.

Should be interesting.

If I'd been calling plays that day I'd have had Marshawn line up behind and to the right of Russell. At the snap I'd have Russell fake the handoff to Marshawn and Marshawn take off for the left side of the field.

That's his favorite side to run to so every Patriot on the field would have headed that way to block him. Russell could have trotted to the right and into the end zone, or if there was a blocker there he could have lobbed a pass to the back corner of the end zone to Bennett.

I stand by my earlier post regarding '15-'16.

-Wilson gets a new contract
-Seahawks are much better with legit receivers. Jimmy Graham is a stud.
-Beast Mode has another great year (probably his last)
-Seahawks go back to the Super Bowl for the 3rd year in a row
-Lesson learned....'Hawks win

Ya gotta think about it this way.... You go to the Super Bowl and win. Now the desire is there (sorta) to get back and win again. But what is the desire and motivation like to go back a 3rd time and show the world that you are not the Greg Norman of the NFL. I watched every Seahawks game the last 2 years and there was definitely some complacency early last year. Sure, the rest of the NFL gets "up" to beat the champs, but I just didn't see the fire last year that was there the year before. Or I could have my head up my a$$.

It's going to be interesting....

Well, you may have your head up there, but you're spot on about the lack of enthusiasm in the early part of the season. It's like they were all in a stupor.

I think you're going to see a "three peat" this year. Jimmy Graham is going to be fun to watch. I loved watching him in NO. It will be even better in Seahawk Country!

I do not think the Seahawks will make the Super Bowl this year. They just got there last year after a Green Bay record setting collapse. It is hard to maintain the "teamwork" without a vocal strong leader as QB. (Wilson, while a neat QB, would not even be in the top 5 selections if SH fans had Their pick of all QB's in the league.). Lots of interesting undercurrents in the team/players and players/players relations. It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

Just curious Mike. What do you base that on? As one who lives in WA and watches what goes on in the Seattle papers and on the Seattle news, I'd argue that Wilson is one of the most popular Seahawk players. Who do you think Hawk fans would rather have than Wilson?

Yeah Mike....I'm waiting on that answer as well.

Rodgers
Manning
Brees
Luck
Brady

To name 5. Oh sure, we all stand by "our guys" but if a trade were possible SH fans would be in heaven if any I named were obtained by Seattle.

And don't give me the phony BS about how fans hate certain players. You guys now love Graham now though even though even the players had bad feelings concerning him just a few months ago. LOL

Ok....a few counter points here. The Seahawks are more than just one player, and Russell Wilson will be the first to say that. They lost as the SB as a team and they will go back as a stronger, wiser team.

You named some great QBs. Rodgers (31), nothing to say there. But even the best individual player is no match for a better team. Manning (39), time to retire. He was one of the greatest but I say he struggles this year just like he did towards the end of last year. Brees (36) will have another record year but while the Saints helped their defense in the off season the offense took some hits. Brady (38 in Aug) will have a challenge coming back. Watch the tape of him on the sidelines at the last SB just before Seattle lost the game. He was beat and he knew it. There is a lot on his shoulders right now and he is going to need more than talent....he's going to need some character and I'm not sure how much he has. That brings us to Andrew Luck (25) and Russell Wilson (26). If you think the Seattle fans would trade Wilson for any of the 3 QBs pushing the backside of the careers you just aren't paying attention. Andrew Luck is a great passer and going to get better but not close in rushing. Wilson is a much more rounded QB and he went to the SB last year with a horrible pass offense.

Trust me....there is no way the fans in Seattle would trade Wilson for any of the great QBs mentioned.

Now to the phony BS. My wife is from New Orleans and wears her official Brees jersey every weekend. We hate Direct TV but we have it because of Sunday Ticket. We watch the Seattle games and the Saints games (as well as the LSU games. She's an alum) I've been watching Graham since he came to the Saints and commented often how great it would be if Seattle had Graham. My wife is livid that the Saints traded him.

So, respectfully, you are (A) misinformed, (B) not too perceptive, or (C) just trying to stir the controversy pot. And I have no problem with any or all 3. Makes this thread entertaining.
