210 Select BR thread - Questions and Answers

Is there a 210 select forum group?

also where does the rearview mirror mount on the 210 select 2007 no ski tower?

I love my new sea ray and want to keep it fresh and new!

I think this is it, I'm not aware of any other 210 Select forum groups. I mounted my mirror (non-searay type) to the windshield. There's a lip that mine mounted in along the top of the windshield if I remember correctly.

Hello all,
Not sure if this thread is still active or not. I've got a 2010 210 Select with 5.0 L Alpha I (1.62 gear ratio) and 19 pitch 14" Vengeance standard prop. I've recently started slalom skiing behind the boat and it takes for ever to get up out of the hole. I'm considering reproping. With the standard prop and empty boat and full tank of gas, I hit 4860 rpm at 48.8 mph on gps, about 6.5 second plane time. I've tried an 18" Alpha 4 (aluminum) four bladed prop in 14.25" diameter and found it to perform poorly. Under similar conditions (extra 125 pounds in the passenger seat) I hit 5050 rpm at 43.8 mph, about 5.9 s time to plane. Hole shot was only marginally improved but lost about 5 mph at the top end, hitting the 5000 rpm rev limiter (5050 actually). Cruise rpm was up about 160 rpm as well at 30 mph so I'll be paying more for gas.

So, now I'm considering switching props between the 19 pitch vengeance for weekend boating and a dedicated ski prop for use evenings mid-week when the lake is calm. I'm considering the High Five, possibly in 17 pitch (choices are 17 or 19) or the Revolution 4 in 19 pitch. Does anyone have experience on the 210 Select with either of these or similar props?

Thanks,
Dave

I cant comment on how your boat will perform but I switch props for slalom skiing. My standard prop is also the 19 vengeance which is ok all around but i use powertech ele 17 four blade for a better hole shot and I loose 3 mph top end. The high five would most likely give even more pull with even less top end.

I know this thread hasn't been posted to in quite a while, but here goes.

I have a 2008 210 Bow-rider (Fission) 350 mag, Bravo III, DTS. I really like the boat, but it's much different from my 1994 200 Bow-rider.

First the boat lists to starboard and the boat moves starboard when the steering wheel is centered. The hull is much smoother when I am moving slightly port ward (I hope I'm saying this correctly). Is this something I should be concerned with?

Next is the trim... this boat just doesn't want to take ANY trim, even running 35mph on smooth water the slightest trim starts her to porpoising. So odd, my last boat (a '94 Sea Ray 200 Bowrider) loved to be trimmed up. I'm hoping owners of this boat can chime in and tell me their experience. She rides nice at all speeds without any trim, just wondering if this is normal.

I'm using about 8 gal an hour cruising between 22-25 mph.

I don't have the 210SEL (non-fission) anymore, and mine was a 5.0l with AI drive, but mine loved trim. I would trim up slightly above 1/2 way to get the best performance/economy.

Like Matthewmiller said, I still have the '07 210Sel - with a 5L motor - I don't notice the listing to starboard, but for trim, I put it at 5.3-5.7 on the 1-10 scale, that pops up on the console.

Thanks for the input... I'm worried I may have water between the hull and deck, I guess I'll be looking for a local expert.

Hmmm, today, I went out on the lake, with my 210, and when I started it up at the dock, I was shocked to see my gas gauge at empty! I'd filled it up about 3-4 weeks ago, and had been out 3-4 times, but not that far a ride. So, as I was idling out, I saw it climb to about 3/8 of a tank. I felt better, but was still surprised that it wasn't higher. So, I only went about 4-5 miles today, just to stay close by, with plans of filling up after I pulled it out. I got to the gas station, and filled it up - 22 gallons(of 40). Hmmm, so it was still around half a tank full. So, now I'm going to have to figure out why it seems to be registering the wrong amount of fuel. I figured the most accurate would be near the docks, where there's no wave action. But, that's where it showed 3/8 of a tank. Has anyone got any suggestions on why this is reading wrong?

I was out last weekend, and both days, my fuel gauge was accurate. I talked to my dealer, he said they replace 2-3 fuel senders per week. He said it's probably on it's way out.

Does anyone have any pictures of their 210 with wakeboard towers on them? I'm starting to look at towers but it's hard to tell how it'll look by the stock photos. I'm leaning towards the monster tower right now as it looks like it would be a little sturdier then most. There is another company that also has the option of stainless steel for the main uprights which seems like it would last longer, but I'm not sure how much weight it adds. Any thoughts or advise?

boat pic too large for my petty membership. pm me if you still want a pic of mine. 2001 210ss chrome tower

After swapping out the fuel sending unit in the spring of 2015, had a great boating season last year, but the fuel readings were still off. So, that wasn't the issue - I had one interesting scare, we typically launch and boat to an island about 2-3 miles from shore. This day we went out, and spent the day on the lake - when we left, I had like 3/4 of a tank of gas. Later, after we were getting ready to head home, it was so nice, we decided to cruise around the islands (round trip around is maybe 2 miles) - As I went around the far side of the island, the gas gauge was dropping fast. I was worried we wouldn't make it back to shore. I kept telling myself I think it's still over half full. We made it to shore, and the next day I went and filled it at a local gas station. Yup, it only took half a tank of gas. So, this past fall, when I took it in for winter I asked the dealer to see what they could find. They ran diagnostics on it, but didn't find anything. I'll see if that might have reset things when we get out on the lake this summer.

Got the boat ('07 210 Select) out on the lake for the first time this year yesterday! So good to get out and take her for a cruise .I've had an issue with the fuel gauge for the past 2 seasons, and it's still here.. Any ideas what I should look for/how to diagnose it? I had a brand new full tank of gas yesterday and it registered between 49 and 58% full. (both digital and analog gauges read the same.)
I did an initial beginning of season cleaning yesterday prior to going out,and finished that up today. All nice and clean again.

Hi everyone! My name is David and I am looking to buy my first boat! Yes, I have heard all the horror stories... But growing up in South Florida in the 60's cruising on my father's 19' fishing boat left a long unrealized yearning to own my own vessel. Now at 61 and living on the beach in Long Beach, the time is now or never.

I rented a slip (very difficult to find here) and am looking at this 2000 210 Signature Edition. It only has 82 hours on it. It was a salt water boat and is in apparently good shape. My question to all of you is if this is a good price. NADA sets the range at $9500-$11,000.

Also note that the trailer is corroded and is of little value. In fact, I will be selling it for salvage as The boat will be docked at a local marina. I will be taking it out on a sea trial and will get a survey and mechanic's report. Any other advice?

Thanks everyone!

Hey all! Just joined CSR. Hope this thread is still active after all this time. I bought a used 2007 210 Select, last year. It's been great. Previous owner seems to have taken care of it.

So, I do have the walkway hatch popping open issue, as I've read on the forums (thanks foxsealady for posting). It seems to be a combination of the weak magnets and over-powered lift pistons. I think I exacerbated the issue by installing a new lift piston, since the old one wouldn't hold the hatch open. I installed a lift with the force rating that's specified in service manual from searay.com, which may be too strong (from foxsealady's post) for the magnets to hold it closed.

So I'm going to try installing a plunger type latch, similar to what's on the motor hatch. Here's the part I ordered: https://www.boatoutfitters.com/hatch-plunger-latch

Anyone have luck with this approach? Any other solutions/fixes you recommend. I currently have a snap-strap to hold that hatch down, that the dealer installed. However the snap has worn out and it just doesn't seem that elegant. So, I'm hoping this will work. I'll try to upload some before and after pics.
