200 Sundeck Thread- Questions and Answers

Finally got around to getting some pics of my install I did last year. I forgot to get a shot of the wet sounds rev 8 I put on the tower.

Looking to upgrade my prop on my 04 sundeck. 5.0 MPI with Alpha 1. Currently a 17 pitch SST vengence. Thinking of a 4 or 5 blade SST. Anyone else done this yet? Thoughts? Had 6 people on the boat last week and it seemed tough to get on plane. Thinking improved hole shot without losing too much top end. Do I go with the same pitch?

Spark plug replacement....
Can any 200SD owners clue me in on replacing plugs on a 5.0 MPI on our boats? I can barely even see the plug wires, and cannot seem to get my arm down the limited engine well side clearance to put my hands on anything, let alone get a plug socket on a plug. Is it feasible to remove the exhaust manifold/ riser? Would really like to do this myself but can't quite figure out if it's possible. Mine is a 2003 model. Any tips or tricks are appreciated.....

I did mine myself, had to remove fuel filter and a couple of hoses to get a ratchet at them and my chest was sore for a few days from laying on top of the engine but it can be done. I did have to get creative to reach some. I had my arm through the fire extinguisher hole for a couple. Most of them are blind so it's all by feel and experience wrenching helps. You don't want to break a plug or get the threads crossed up. I did not have to remove any major items like exhaust manifolds. Just have a good selection of various length extensions handy.

Can anyone tell me where the accessory fuse block is located on a 2007 200 Sundeck? Searching all over for it but can't find it. Thanks!

Don't know on yours, but on my 240, the fuse panel in under the helm, access is from inside the storage locker under the steering. you have to remove a panel to get to it. NOT convenient.

If you go to searay.com, under the owner resources tab, you can download pdf manuals, spec sheets, and more for your boat. I found wiring diagrams, parts lists, everything there.

Amy 05 200 sundeck was behind the helm under carpet that was snapped up easier than the 240 but still a pain

Hi everyone,
New to this forum and hoping for some input from any current/former sundeck 200 owners.
I am currently in the market for a mixed use (lake and occasionally saltwater bay) open bow. I initially liked the layout of the Hurricanes and easy beaching, but concerned about them in rougher water. After a lot of research, I think I am now narrowing in on the Sundeck. I have read a lot of great reviews and I like the deeper V hull compared to most of the other deckboats. I'm leaning toward the SD 200 over the SD 220. The boat will be trailered mostly and there is a big weight difference.
I'm looking now at an older 2003 SD200 with low hours (<200) and the Alpha I Merc 240. Dry stored and maintained since new by the same marina. This is an older boat than I initially was going to consider, but it's very clean and hopefully in good shape.
Questions:
- Any specific concerns I need to look for? Anything on this model that routinely causes trouble, especially in a boat this age?
- SD 200 vs SD 220?
- How well does the 200 handle moderate chop - bay use, not open ocean
- Trailer thoughts? This one does not have a trailer included so I would have to negotiate for that or find one on my own

Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Hope to become a more permanent member here in the near future!
