Looking at 1998 - 2001. After that the prices sky rocket. I'm finding it difficult to locate anything online that list standard options by year and changes that were made. Are these years basically the same as far as layout and options? Love the added sink/grill on the deck but it looks like that came years later. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

You can find all of that info on SeaRay.com at the following link:

Thank you both for the links..... learning more everyday! I didn't realize they stopped making 270 Sundancers 2002-2008. Any advice on whether we should look for twin or single engine? We're told to look for a fresh water cooled engine. Any engine advice would be appreciated!

I looked through the specs and I'm not seeing any major changes through the 1999-2001 years. If I missed anything of significance, please let me know. I noticed the 1998 doesn't have the stairs and windshield opening to walk up.

The '98 does have the stairs on the main hatch and a walk through windshield. One thing to consider is a single engine is more economical than twins.

I can say I am a huge fan of mine. I think the 2000 has two latches on the stern locker door and mine has only one. Two is better.
I prefer the layout of these vintage boats with more seating rather than the extra sink (the boat already has two). Fresh water cooled is nice, but from my experience most single 7.4"s are raw water cooled. I can sit in my engine room and work on my single, two motors will be tight but there will be much debate about twins vs single. My single was my preference.
The models are really close to identical from the ones I have been on.
Its really a good choice in any of the three years you are looking at - try for the newer one 2000.
Good luck

I agree with Mark. I have the single 7.4L MPI with BIII and it has plenty of power for this model. Remember, twin engines are twice the service and maintenance cost for engines and outdrives.
Good luck with your search and welcome to CSR.

I agree if you can find a "FWC" of closed cooling system you should have far less trouble. At that age a saltwater raw water cooled engine IS likelly to have issues comming soon. Heads can rot out and cause engine failure. You will not have that issue if the block has coolant in it.

Dont forget, that the 1999 and 2000 have the 9ft 2in beam. All other years have the 8ft 6in beam. Unless you have a "special edition", which are all 8ft 6in beam.

You guys with the wide body and a single engine - How is the performance loaded with fuel & guest? (up to 8 on board)

When I had mine I don't think the boat knew the difference between lightly laded and packed to capacity. Big block torque is king.
