I believe the 290 uses the same helm panel as other models and on the 340's I think that controls the window vent since its not a walk thru windshield. I could be wrong though.

If they are installed, the switch will likely be on the right side of the dash. ACC1 or ACC2

The Port Switch pad actually has a button for "Vent", so that is not utilized as an Accessory. I am betting its either ACC1 or ACC2 on the Starboard pad as you guys suggested. Thanks, I'm sure I will have many more questions and I appreciate the responses!

First off awesome info here! But I am looking at a 1999 290da and it's powered by twin 6.2s and bravo IIIs. What type of speed will it run and how will fuel be? I'd like to think mid 30 mph cruise and around 1.5 mpg? I've never seen or heard of that engine combo before but I think I'm in love if it performs the way I think it will.

Sounds like a re-power was done. What model 6.2s?

320 hp mpi. I was thinking re-power as well. Doesn't scare me at all. Nothing wrong with having an over powered boat.

Exactly! And not that over-powered, so no worries. You can get the year and serial numbers off the covers, btw, if you haven't already. I've been taking pics of things like that with my phone to have for reference later. I would think you'll have a mid-thirties cruise, water conditions permitting, no problem and wouldn't expect to be too bad on fuel consumption. I bet you get mid to high 40s WOT! Your "problem", like mine is only having 130 gallons of fuel (my 290 has a 125 gal tank). This will mean if you take make many runs per weekend or long runs, you'll be fueling more often.

Those are the numbers I wanted to read. I'm really interested in getting the boat just a few hoops to jump thru to make it happen.Thank you and I hope to be back with some pics and some real numbers

new question -
tired of towing jet ski, i have one of those new sea doo sparks that only weights 400lbs
want to get it on swim platform
does anyone have experience with loading the rear down and getting on plane?
i've loaded the boat with people and haven't noticed any difference except the need for the trim tabs.
btw, i have the twin 5.0's and it's a 2007

Congrats on the 290. The underwater lights would have been on ACC2 if factory installed. It runs through the AFT EIM and are prewierd. You will find the stubbed out wires coming out of the main engine room harness on the PORT aft corner. They are (maybe - Brown and Yellow?) stubbed with butt connectors. Just put a meter in them and turn on ACC2 to be sure.

As for ACC1, it comes off the FWD EIM, located under the helm inside the door. I have not yet found where the wires are stubbed, but according to Sea Ray tech they are wired into the main harness that leaves the FWD EIM and had no factory purpose on this boat, but are usable, same with the vent if you can find the wires.

Hey Richie,

I often carry 2 large boxes of firewood out to a sandbar (don't know the weight, but it is alot) strapped to the swim platform. My normal load is full water, 1/2 to full fuel, FULL cooler, wife, + dog. It gets on plane but it struggles a bit, if we have 4 adults plus all that I have had to get someone on the bow.

Moving to the newer 4x3 Bravo3 props made a *big* difference for me... I went with the 24p (I also have twin 5.0L MPI) and have better performance and economy.

For me, I keep the trim tabs all the way down when 1st starting out. First of all, the boat handles better when in the no-wake zone with them down. Then as soon as we get in open water, I throttle up and having the trims down allows me to get on plane much faster and at a lower speed. I then trim all the way up and trim the engines just a touch up.

Hello, how do I go about accessing the rear of the Clarion factory stereo? None of the cockpit speakers are working and I suspect a connection came loose from behind the unit. I toggled the switch on the dash (speakers off) with no luck and the fade on the head unit made no difference.

Here is a pic of my boat, just took delivery!

Congrats! To get the stereo out you need to remove the entire panel as I recall. It is easiest to undo the 4 screws in the corner of the plywood that holds all the switches and the stereo in then tilt it forward. They leave very little slack in the wires so don't pull it out. Lean it towards you until you can see what is going on. Because the panel is a tight fit I found it best to remove the cabinet door hinges as well if you need to do a lot of work back there.

Thanjks guys, looks like I have to take off the panel to investigate, weekend job #1! A few more questions (won't be the last!)
1. The cabin bilge, it appears the sump within that plastic box does not push out the water from fridge, A/C and galley sink. It fills up, and overflows into bilge leaving standing water. The sump will manually activate, but does not push out water. I guess its either shot or the discharge line is blocked. Any thoughts?
2. What is the little box, might be an inverter?, for that's in the top of cabinet next to main panel cabinet? When I connect to shore power, should I be turning it on?
3. The cabin carpet is rough and stained, anyone ever try or see the Infinity woven fabric products? I though someone here did a teak job? The Infinity product looks cool and modern. I would like to get aay from the typical carpet, it looks so 80's!

Hi Bill,

I just replaced the same pump, for a slightly different reason. Mine would not reliably switch on. It's an Attwood Saraha S500 - I picked a new one up from Wholesale Marine (.com). But, berfore you replace yours, especially because it does turn on, it could be clogged discharge or fouled impeller. The discharge tube fits into a black rubber check valve - all very easy to disassemble. Take the bottom of the pump off and you will see a retaining screw holding the impeller housing. remove it and the housing to check for debris. Check the check valve and discharge hose for clog. I cut the top off my old pump, found and fixed the problem, reattached to top and now have it as a backup/spare. BTW, your shower, head sink, galley sink and AC all flow to that pump.

My boat does not have the little box you are referring to - please take a pic and post (I am looking to add an inverter).

Try WD40 on your carpet stains and or a cleaner like Resolve or a steam/brush spot cleaner like a Bissell - you might be surprised how well it cleans up.

Kind regards,
Richard

Thanks Richard for the tips. I checked the sump and impeller is fine. I snaked the discharge line and there was some blockage. It moves the water out now, but only if you use the test button. It does not activate on its own. I will probably just replace it.

The eh small box in the top cabinet is an inverter, so I can use AC outlets when away from shore. Sorry, I did not take a pic.
