What are the straps in the trunk for?

If you are talking the ones in the rear lazerette they are for hanging dock lines. Keeps them Neat and organized.

Madifonzo is correct... they are for keeping your lines organized. And, as he also pointed out, the "trunk" is called a lazarette.
