25 buck or so buys some great add-ons

Thanks for the continued welcomes. Galley Wench... in my dreams. Admiral sounds a plan. I'm still waiting for the mods / admin to approve the pics of the boat. Or is there something else I have to do to be able to post pics?

<Oh God!! Just had a horrible thought! SWMBO isn't already on here is she? Typical that she'd be a mod by now:lol: >

I usually just post a link form FB or some other place... Click "from URL" and click off the check box below that imports the pic... No membership is required for a URL link...

My new favorite acronym, so thanks for that. I'm no help on the motor, but I love your post Bruce. Especially if I read it using a Monty Python/British accent. Hilarious.
Its not a new, term... But I like it too:
The term originates from the H. Rider Haggard novel, "She" (first published 1886). The character Ayesha, known as She-who-must-be-obeyed, the Queen of Death, the White Goddess,of the lost city of Kôr who rules her kingdom with terror, She is the very image of the Femme Fatale. To disobey her or to scorn her is to earn & receive instantaneous death.

Absolutely! And now you know the torment that drove me to fishing :smt043

Thanks for the pic posting tips :smt038

Before the move. It'd take me an hour to shoe horn her into the driveway. Not good enough!!

After the move it now takes a mere 2 hours to winch her up the goat path on the cliff top SWMBO insisted I buy :smt013

and if anybody here is in any doubt about how verocious SWMBO is. Just look at our spawn on their best behavior for their school photo

your children are adorable... Your wife must be a Saint, or Satan... My wife has the "look" too she calls it her Hanna look... She says she gets her temper from her Irish side of the family...

Adorable? I'm speechless. They are reprobate hooligans who love nothing better than to upset the equilibrium of harmonious tranquillity aka Dad's patience. Horrid little b*stids is the term that springs to my mind. Did I mention I retore vintage classics? Ever see a little man sneak into his daddy's garage and panel beat a freshly restored fender arch just like daddy but with a ball-peen hammer? Try explaining that one off. Just horrid. I found my bearing puller in the sandpit. After ordering a new set. Just horrid. I spend a whole day fishing without luck and just as I hook to a record breaking whopper they'll insist on reeling it in while SWMBO glares at me to defy her little darlings wishes ... like I'm an ogre or something. The ensueing argument as who gets first dibs on the rod caused the multiplexer to develop a crows nest that would have given Houdini wood. Just horrid. And they're mine for another 15 years. Just horrid!

But I digress. What would be a good prop dia. and pitch for a GM 3l straight 4 on this boat for general fuel efficient cruising?

From what I can see it looks like a really nice boat for starters. If you ever get it to some place that you can actually step back a few meters to take some pics of the whole thing that would be great too. Lookin' forward to seeing your "work in progress" photos. Thanx for posting. You may now start looking at 260's. The kids will just LOVE there own little space, (refered to as the aft cabin), and your GALLEY WENCH will love the whole idea. If she doesn't, they make great bachelor pads too.

Is that YOU Frasier Crane? Or is this really Niles?

On www.searay.com there used to be a prop size chart by boat model and year. It was in the archieves section of owners resources. It may not go back to your boat model year. You can use a similar size boat with the 3L 4 cyl engine.

Welcome aboard! Do I take it you were/are a "Rumpole of the Bailey" fan? SWMBO was his favourite expression in a great show. BTW does it still rain as much in Wales as it used to do or has it slacked off a bit with Al Gore's global warming? Good luck with your restoration job.

Ahh weather. Yes we have lots of weather. I pinned my hopes on Al Gore but empirical evidence suggests that the only hot air comes from his mouth and he's never visited Wales. Im thinking of sending him an invite over the Easter holidays as insurance for good boating weather. Do you think he'll come?

Today I reconditioned the UJ yokes. They were a tad rusty to say the least. How is one supposed to gease the first UJ? the nipple sits a quarter inch from the yoke! The rear one is ok for clearance. I suspect some silly sod put it in backwards but then I also struggle to believe its ever been apart.

Hello Bruce,

I just read this entire post as I have been busy at work. I have say SWMBO is new to me. We call ours BB. Bow b!t(h. Originated when a friend and I were fishing and needed someone to pull anchor.

Welcome to CSR!

Thanks guys :)

Although I am confident with a spanner I think I will have to invest in a book of words for this engine / stern drive combo. Maybe the book of words will tell me why when I mate the upper and lower gear cases, the drive shaft with bleeding o-ring punches a hole through the lower seal in the upper housing pulling the seal's spring tensioner with it. Seriously, either I am way off the mark on this one or some mercruiser design engineer was about to face a redundancy package and decided to stick it to the man. I'm all for sticking it to the man but when I have to buy a whole upper case seals kit just for that one seal I cant help feeling the sod stuck me to :(

I'm looking at that boat of yours Gary. I wont say I'm green with envy, well maybe a little bit. A damn fine looking boat. What really drew my eye was the manner in which the tender mounts at the back. I will have to get myself one of those. If for no other reason I'm still trying to work out how I am supposed to get my tender on board. I have no shame and would quite happily look like a Beverly Hills Hillbilly by strapping it to the CC roof but it's too big. Deflated and folded up, it's really too big to comfortably store onboard too. I'd tow it, but I'd have an impressive kite with no floor boards after the first stiff breeze. I'd get a smaller tender, but SWMBO would sink it. I haven't finished this boat yet and I'm already looking at upgrades.

I may have suggested this before but it warrants mentioning just one more time,,,,,,,, start looking at 260's.

BTW Bruce, Our 10' Zodiac fit on the deck, rolled up and lashed to the bow rail of our 230 CC. A 12vdc air pump facilitated easy deployment. The tenders seem to fit much better on the 240's and 260's.
