Packers 49ers not sold out tv blacked out for local tv

Now that I just can't imagine! The 49ers have sold out every game for as long as I can remember at home. What is this, a Raider game or something?

Isnt there almost a million people living in San Francisco? Probably take half the state of Wisconsin to reach that number. Add in the weather factor and the Packers chances of advancing very far into the playoffs..... Just thinking out loud.

The ironic thing is, the majority of the people attending the games live outside of San Francisco. We do have a large population but Raider games don't sell out much of the time...

Going to a Packer game seems to take more planning than it would in many mega city locations. The fans are not close, need to travel, and the Packer fans I know didn't expect to have a playoff game, even as of late Sunday evening of what is an extended holiday weekend.

The Bungals, on the other hand have to win one or two before fans will pay that much to sit out in the cold...

I will add my .02 based on how the Ravens do it, probably typical of most NFL teams. If you don't pony up for season tickets, you lose them. No problem if your team has a waiting list just to purchase PSLs for the right to buy season tickets, you will always have sell outs. Playoff invoices are usually sent out the first part of December, you do not have to buy playoff tickets, it will have no effect on your season tickets. If you buy the playoff tickets (usually 2 home games) and they don't have a home game, that money goes towards next years season tickets. Now if you feel your team is going to have a home playoff game or possibly a conference championship game, you would have to decide what is more imporatnt, going to your team's home playoff game or buying Christmas presents. The NFL sets the price for playoff tickets, not the teams.........they aren't cheap

And, who ever mentioned weather being a factor with the Packers game not selling out, I hope you were kidding.

No fears. It is big news in Wisconsin. All regular season Packer games are sold out before season start w/ mega waiting list. ( yes all 38 seats JK ) At the time the season ticket holder received their invoices Aaron Rogers was out and their was really little chance of a playoff game in future. They have tomorrow yet to sell their tickets off.

Is it bad that I wish Colin Kapernick's legs freeze up and his arm misfires? GO PACK!

There is some poetic justice to hear that our neighbors to the East have made such a spectacle of this playoff game. Growing up in Minnesota with half of my family from Green Bay (most have season tickets at Curly's place) and listening to the constant talk about the superiority of the packers is enough to wish harmful things on everyone in the town. Although, I had a good year with Farve he ripped out my heart just as he had for the green and gold faithful so many times.

At least the Viqueens have enough sense to put a roof over their field.

Let's see, Aaron is well and he is ready to play whether it is hot or cold. Heat will be in his favor coming back from the injury. If the game were in GB then no worries selling out. There is a lot to be said for home field advantage but then again didn't they play in Chi town last week?

Any team can win or lose. Who would have thought the Lions would finish in 3rd place in our division?

With all that said, there will be a game and some team will lose and some team will win. Boy aint that deep!

GO PACKERS!

There is a difference in "cold" and "bitter cold". From a Yahoo article: "It is supposed to be a high of four degrees in Green Bay on Sunday, when the Packers play the 49ers, with a low of minus-15 degrees." at some temperature the fans will chose not to risk their life and health no matter how rabid the fan base. Is 4 degrees it?

Will They sell out?

That's dam cold Mike, I will give you that, enough to keep some away. The level of fandom will surely be tested

FYI - did a search, 1967 Ice Bowl, it was -15 for the kick off, another story had it at -13.

Are you kidding me. Who would go to a football game or even outdoors when it's that cold? The coldest I was in was -30 with a wind chill dropping it to -51 overnight. This was in Colorado during an arctic freeze that came down and froze everything. I did try to ski in -30 temps but my mask kept freezing over. We spent a lot of time in the warming hut and finally, the lodge in front of the fireplace. How can, and why would anyone want to live up there?

I thought the game was at SF... My bad.
Not so sure about Aaron now. The only advantage GB has is they can practice in the cold to prepare. SF is going to show up and "unthaw".

Pansies!! I was there for there for the "Freezer Bowl" game in 1982. AFC Championship game Bengals vs Chargers. Your beer would freeze before you could finish it!

Interesting fact:

The game was one of the few in NFL history in which the same team kicked off to begin both halves. Cincinnati won the toss and instead of receiving, elected to have the brutally cold wind at their backs to start the game, believing it would neutralize San Diego's passing game and help the Bengals to build an early lead. The strategy paid off as Cincinnati built a 10–0 lead in the first quarter. San Diego would score their only touchdown in the second, but gave up another score to the Bengals and trailed 17–7 at halftime. Accordingly, San Diego used its option at the beginning of the second half to receive the kickoff, resulting in Cincinnati kicking off to begin both halves—and in the same direction both times, using their second half option to again begin the half with the wind at their backs.

Nope, at 12-4, SF I the number 5 seed behind the 8-7-1 Packers. The NFL should go by record once the playoffs start. Even if 3 teams in a division make it in (as almost happened this year).
