Sea Ray Saturday

Thanks for the picture update. I've never hit anything over that way with the boat, we used to go tubing over in that direction in the old boat. I'm sure I'm due to hit something soon.

Not the prettiest day on the water but I still enjoyed myself.

Getting a ride back to my boat. My friend took me deep in the cove to fish.

Looking good. We took the boat over to National Harbor today with some friends. Had a great time. National Harbor's marina was full and they found us a spot in between several large yachts along the fuel dock.

Got it. Now I recognize it. Right at the mouth of the Pomonkey. I've pulled up on that sand before with my Sea Ray.

Didn't recognize it being so uncrowded.

Snapped a couple shots from crappie fishing this afternoon. My friend met me after work and we caught 7 nice size crappie under the I 95 South bound bridge.

Went out last weekend, sure was nice in the protected waters.

Met one of my hardy friends for some fishing.

He had a heck of a time on the main stem in 2-3 foot waves. I followed him for a while until he got to the calm water on the VA side. He got all wet in his new Jon boat.

Haven't posted pics in a while. For all of those who ask about fishing from your sport boat, here's how I do it.

Thanks to Jim at BOE for the awesome sonar setup!

Here's the result of four hours fishing Chautauqua Lake.

And two nice walleye.

Plus I took my daughter and her cousin out.

Nice fish.

We took the 330 out 2 weeks ago, we were 80 km off the coast, had 4 rods and a teaser set up on the troll, had a 4way hit with one hookup.

Fought a bluefin tuna for 2 3/4 hours before the leader broke, we had the fish at the back of the boat several times but never within reach of the leader, we are calling the fish for over 100kg.

So yes you can comfortably fish out of a sports boat..........isn't that why they call them a sports boat?

Went out a week later on a flybridge and we caught this 40 kg model

Yeah spray nine and then pressure wash. Normally I take the carpet out but the kids were tubing and I got lazy. Its gonna smell if I don't wash it tomorrow. I will take it to the self serve carwash where I can clip it to the wall and hose the crap out of it.

I was fishing alone and if I had a photographer/driver then it never would have touched the carpet. I wanted a pic though. I released it healthy and it swam away.

I was staring at the carpet also thinking the same thing.

My #1 priority is the fish, carpet be damned! I want to replace it soon anyway, I might get one more season out of it.

Nice sonar set up. I've been threatening to trade our 200 BR for a fishing boat, but have met some resistance.
Can you elaborate about the sonar set up? Do you have any pictures of the other associated components? That might be a viable option for me to pursue.
Thanks,

Here is a shot of the ram mount.

This is the structure scan module.

The structure scan xducer is transom mount 6" to the right of the keel.

The sounder xducer is a b60 through hull which replaced the stock xducer for my in dash depth finder.

The only gripe I have is the screen is a little small on my HDS 5. My next project will be adding a second MFD to the port side with a larger screen and networking them through the structure scan module.

If you have questions give the folks at BOE a call, their a wealth of knowledge. And the best time to buy a new system is usually in march before boating season. That's when the best prices are offered and the best manufacture rebates are available.

Oh and I added 4-30° sea ray stainless rod holders which were less than $60 each at my dealer. They loom sharp with a sea ray logo on them. My mid ship rod holders are 0° lee stainless which I'm not using in the pics. For those I have rod riggers which let's me put two more 8' rods in my spread.

Fishing alone I can't handle more than three but with help I can run two rods on each down rigger and one on each rod rigger. With that setup I can fish baits at six different depths and cover a good bit of the water column.

Thanks for the information. I wasn't aware that the sonars were that complex - learn something new everyday. I like the installation set up - nice and discrete. Can you upgrade the screen alone, without all of the other if you wanted a bigger screen?

Yes, I can plug in any HDS or certain simrad mfd's in two seconds. Minus the mounting situation.

BOE does a really clean neat install, I highly recommend them. If anyone is even close to the middle bay or NJ shore its worth the drive. Reasonable labor rate too.
