Official 370 Sundancer thread

Standing vs. sitting.

I have been looking for a 37 for awhile now. I have found a few boats, but discovered something on a sea trial that bothered me.

When driving a boat I like to stand, or lean. I find sitting awkward. I got some dimension prints from Sea Ray to figure out how to layout the bunks on my lift in anticipation of being an owner and I noticed a notation that the arch was higher in later models. The one I ran was 1995.

Does anyone know if the seat and bimini top are higher in the later models?

Has anyone modified the bimini with an extra bow, and raised the seat? I tried to use cushions during the sea trail but it was not adequate to lean against.

R

We have a '99 (1998 leftover) 370 and I can stand comfortably at the helm. I am 5'10" (I know, not that tall), but I have plenty of headroom with the taller arch. I can also sit in the helm seat underway and have a good sight line through the windshield.

Hope that helps.

Looks great to me ! I might do this when my enclosure needs to be replaced.

This is a true example of beauty being in the beholder. And lo and behold, I do NOT like it! There are lots of changes you can make to a 370, but I think this is not one of them. It ruins the lines of the boat. It's too flat, too square and too too.

It's going onto the 370sundancer.com site though. No reason to deny others from the benefit of seeing it.

One thing for sure, someone spent a lot of money destroying the looks of that boat.

I agree Gene, there are other "cool mods" that have been done to the 370 that have destroyed the lines of the boat..........but to each his own, I guess.

I would like to see a hard top on the 370DA like the mid '90s 370EC had, now that might look pretty good............photoshop anyone?

John

Ya I agree...I don't like it. Ruins the look of the boat, looks homemade and amateurish. Like Gene said, this isn't an upgrade for a 370. Yuck.

I would think that it would be less expensive to have a total custom hard top made for your boat than to replace the 37 year eye candy wife!

If the hard top had curved lines to it, mirroring current DA hardtops, it might complement the 370 - but not as a helapad.

Looking for the 12v bulbs used in the cabin lights in the ceiling and also the lights above the forward berth. I know someone knows what is used and where to get them.

Thanks for you responces...

Those are easy replacements..but you might first want to look at doing it with LED's..no heat and virtually no power draw. I replaced all my 12v halogen bulbs this summer...I'll gladly send you a couple of them no charge since I won't be using them anymore. Check out these sights for the LED's..http://www.doctorled.com/p2.htm
or
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/boat-rv-bulbs/

I will get to my boat tonight and grab some if interested, otherwise your local hardware store should have the halogen version on hand.
These are the led's I ordered...
G4B-WHP10-DAC: 10HP-LED Disc G4 White Lamp G4B-CWHP10-DAC: Cool White
G4-xWHP15-TAC: White 15HP-LED Tower G4 Lamp G4-CWHP15-TAC: Cool White

The disc G4 style went into the head, above the sink and cabinets as well as the lights above the closet doors in the forward berth. The 15hp went into ALL of the other lights in the salon. They make brighter ones IE 36 led which work great in the bilge.

Hope that helps.

Hi Guys....
So for my winter project I am thinking of removing my generator and replacing it with an inverter system I have seen them on a couple of my friends cruisers and they love them and work great. One buddy has a 4085 Avanti express and it runs everything on his boat without any problems...very cool system.
So here's my question:
I have a 7.4kw Westerbeke generator that is in excellent running condition that I will be removing....what is the best way to sell this item? I am sure someone could use it, and considering the cost of new ones, this could be a great pick up for someone. Any ideas on a good marketing place for a product like this?
Thanks

Thanks TheWolfTc for the info, I picked some up at the autoparts store last night but I will be looking into the LED replacements also. I copied your info to a file on my computer so I wont have to look forl it again.

Again Thanks..........

I have a few questions about the 93-95 370.First,did it come as a express and a dancer? If both ,what is the diffrence between them.I also see the cruise speed differs from the 340s i saw an ad that said 28 for cruise with wot about35,is that correct?I looked at a 95 yesterday and really like the layout more than the 340 .I did post earlier in general discussion but had more questions since then. Thanks Glen

Dancers are definitely different than Express Cruisers. The Sundancer series generally has a mid-cabin tucked under the helm where the Express Cruisers do not. Some EC's have a cabin placed to mid side of the boat. Cockpit layouts differ as well. That's true of the many different sizes of Sea Rays.

The 370 series underwent a redesign in 1995 to a less boxy, more 'european' look. The 95 370 looks different than the 94's although I imagine SeaRay had some leftover 94s that they labeled 95s ad they did in 1999 when they introduced the 380.

I did some searching today and see the differances, does the dancer have a wider beam?I was looking at the express with hurth transmissions are the hurths inline or v drive?

I have a '96...370 with Hurth and they are v drives. GREAT transmissions...smooth as silk.

any deck areas to look for soft spots,or stringer/transom problems,or window hatch leaks that are common?

We bought AMFM 3 last year. I love the lines of the boat and actually don't mind the lower arch as it is a big part of the boat's looks.

I agree, the Hurths are the smoothest transmissions I've ever experienced. The v's are great and this boat rides the water beautifully. The DA provides a ton of room both upstairs and downstairs. It's a great boat and we'll hold on to this boat for a long time!

I have too agree with AMFM3.
we bought our 97 370 Sundancer 4 yrs ago.
it has the Hurth V Drives as well and I love them.
The boat is fantastic! We too will keep ours for a long time.
unless someone is going bigger I can't believe anyone would sell these awesome boats.

The guys knees are going bad, kinda thinking of finding someone near cleveland to peek at it for me.I am not real enthused with the slantback canvas but in a couple years that could change.
