Hello everbody I just signed up today and I am looking to buy a boat I m looking for a 2001 to 2003 410 EC Would love to have a fresh water boat but will settle Perfer 2 head cats but will consider single head with cummings. I am located in RI but I will travel to the Lakes , Sc and up Thanks

Good luck with the search and welcome to CSR!

Production of the 410EC began with the '99 model year. Is there a reason for your cut-off of '01? There weren't many changes, but the dash update happened in '02.

I'm not sure what you mean by "2 head cat"...? Do you mean a Caterpillar-equipped 410DA (Sundancer: v-drive) with two heads, or are you referring to something about the cylinder head configuration of the engines?

I'm guessing it's the former and that you've noticed that Cummins weren't offered in the DA. If that's the case, production of the 410DA / Sundancer began with the 2000 model year.

Thanks for the return post. I would rather have 2 heads and it seems that when there is 1 head they they usually come with the cummings

Ok, that's what I thought. So you're actually looking for a Sundancer. While they look very similar from the outside, you've been looking at different models.

The 410EC, aka the 410 Express Cruiser has straight drive shafts which place the engines further fwd in the hull. This makes the boat more balanced, but the more-fwd position of the ER bulkhead creates some compromises in the cabin: it's over-all smaller, as you noted there's no second head and the the guest stateroom is smaller and less private. The cockpit configuration is different as well, but not drastically so.

The 410DA, aka 410 Sundancer has v-drives, so the engines are further aft. She's less-balanced, but in my biased opinion, is still a great handling boat. The extra room allows for that second head and a larger guest cabin with lots of privacy.

I will tell you the 410 Express in St. Louis is a very nice boat. You wouldn't be disappointed in it - if that is a boat you like. It is in great shape and well maintained.

Thanks for the info How do you feel about the cummings 450 or the cat 350 is there a lot of difference in fuel usage. 12 years ago i had a 30 weekender and it spoiled me with to fuel usage It used 8 a hr. I can afford the fuel but the consumption between the cat and the cummings may sway me Thanks
