Bimini Trip 2013

Sorry to hear you guys are having to cancel, I know how much you were all looking forward to it but...........better safe than sorry. Do hope you all have a good week-end wherever you end up going:)

I've been following this thread silently since it was started and was really looking forward to hearing stories of your trip. I've very sorry Mutha Nature screwed you over.

I'm heading to the BVI tomorrow for a 12 day bare-boat trip and am praying the weather cooperates. If it doesn't I may be joining you in the One-Pissed-Off-Cowboy club.

Good luck and I hope you end up making the best of it.

Right-on Bart, hope your weather is great and we won't have to welcome you to our pissed off cowboy club.....But you can always join it, I'm the damn mayor of it.... ;)

Finally! A club that will accept me!

If it's any consolation I'd like to say you have one of the best signature pictures on CSR.

Sorry to hear the weather is not cooperating, and you had to cancel your trip. Make the best of it, and enjoy what you can. Remember some of us are at WORK! haha

Yes at WORK!!! Can't wait to get back to the boat!

Are you staying down near the Bahia Mar for the weekend?? maybe we can get together...

To bad to hear about the canceled trip. While I couldn't make this trip I was looking forward to hearing about it from your adventures before I make my first attempt. I am thinking I might try and make it in late June. This weekend I will try and find a place in lake Sylvia to anchor or just outside in the blue water to let the kids have some fun. Being new to FL we are still exploring the area and looking for nice places to chill out. Maybe I will see some of you on the water.

Lance, glad to hear you're making the best out of a crappy situation. The weather turned much nicer as did the weekend forecast. How's the weather doing down there?

Nice 5 hr run to West Palm Bch today, weather beautiful, happy memorial day to all my fellow veterans past and present!!!! Thanks for your service!! :)

Hey Joel, I passed you in North Lauderdale today around 11:30 a.m., tryed you on VHF 16, we were headed to Harbortown in Dania Bch, after 2 nights in West Palm Bch, catch ya next time, sucks we didn't see Bimini this trip.

Safe travels back.

I'll be doing the Bimini Fling to the last weekend in July to Bimini Bay with my son and friend... You should come back and join us all then!!

Thanks Barry, Was on the trailer at 6:45 am and got home at 12:30. Thanks for the invite but one failed trip a yr is all I care to try, too much prep because our boat or us are not near FTL, maybe next year. :(

You made the right call. It was really rough today again. A 38' boat took water over the front and sank. USCG was scrambling to get a cutter there and a 50' SF got there first to haul some people out of the water. Do give it a go again some time it's worth it but know you did the right thing this time.

Thanks GT3, was the worse I've ever been in, but what made it extra bad is a extreme thunder storm with plenty of lightning caught us right after exiting pt everglades inlet on our way out, visibility was near zero, and turning around was more than I ever care to do again in 6+ at 4-5 sec dominate, sayin little prayer surfin back thru the inlet, hoping not to get either side of the rocks.
....

Fwiw, which probably isn't much, it is almost always bad at the inlet. You get used to running around the storms. I still hate coming back in when you're surfing between the boats and rocks.

Don't give up on it. You learned a lot.

We might be going on this trip in the SF! It will be getting time to take her out for a couple days! I'll be going to FTL in two weeks to start prepping for the trip. We are looking for a new Captain for her for this trip. 70' Mikelson SF that handles like a dream!
