Caladesi Island Trip 2013

Reserve America can reserve up to 6 spots, but they are specific slips. Below is a marina layout PDF link, slips that can be reserved are are marked with "RA". My problem is that I need a 13' beam slip. My plan is to get up there early afternoon on Friday July 12, hoping there will be plenty choice slips.

You're correct. I called them last year and found out they only have 6 slips. We went over Memorial Day weekend on a Friday and most slips were open. We had no problems getting a slip.

BritLady - English Sausage rolls sound great. They have an area to grill with a table or two so we can do everything on land or bring our own grills and cook on the boat. I think it will be easier if we bring our own Main Course and then sides/desserts to share but it really doesn;t matter to me either way. We'll be leaving on Friday around 9:30-10:00ish and if I run the inside it takes me 3 hours so we should be there around 1:00.

I have a grill I can bring. Bucit, I plan on leaving around the same time Friday if you want to run up together.

Sounds good for the ride up. I'll bring my grill as well. Are you going to ask your nieghbor about the trip? Mr Brewmaster himself.

Bringing our own main course, but with starters (will make plenty of sausage rolls), sides and dessert to share sounds great to us Bucit. Will also get our son-in-law to make some of his winning alcholic concoctions:) Actually managed to book one of the 6 slips they allow to be reserved today for Fri & Sat as wanted to make sure we had a port side tie. We have the boat BBQ that has "shore legs" too, if we can find it:)

Well, my wife now reminds me that we will be leaving for California on the 12th of July, so I am out. I really thought we were leaving the following week.

No doubts this Caladesi trip will be lots of fun. Sorry I have to a bail.

Brian

Sorry to hear you can't make it, but have a great time in California!

That sucks Brian but still let you neighbor know. We'd still like to have him and Michelle joins us. I can PM you my cell number if they're interested.

Thanks for the heads-up Noel's ark... My wife Karen and I are new to this forum and new to a cruiser. We are keeping our new 340 in St Pete and will try to make this weekend. Sounds like fun! Peter Redfern - Wye Knot.

Hi Peter. Welcome to CSR. Where are you keeping the boat and where do you normally boat? I think we're going to have a good turnout for this trip. Have you boated to Caladesi before? If not we can always have a caravan. Cruising the ICW will take almost 3 hours due to many no wake zones but still a nice ride. I'm sure once we get a little closer this thread will really start back up again.

Great! You're very welcome, the more the merrier:) We have not been there personally yet, but our son who lives in Indian Rocks Beach regularly takes his boat there he says it's wonderful and a very popular national park.

I have confirmation from 2 other boaters (a 280DA and a 300 Regal) who will make this trip as well. It looks like we'll have a good group of boats so it should be a good time.

Boats going:

Bucit
Brit Lady
Kevin27
Boxerdogty

Tom - Regal 300
Alan- 280DA

Hopefuls:

Aerobaticflyer

Hi Brenda and Ned: We always bring a bag of charcoal and some starter fluid. They have so many nice grills there at Caladisi. Usually it's cheese burgers ot hot Italian sausages. Easy to cook and NO CLEANUP! We watched a big 60 foot boat one time at Caladisi. They had a big built-in gas grille on the stern. The boat was packed with friends and the grille smoke was blowing directly into the boats cabins and deck. We felt so sorry for them. We look forward to July at Caladisi. Look over your charts and try and give us an idea of what time you may be passing green marker 35 in Saint Pete Beach. We could wait for you and tag along. Bruce and Ines Griffith

Me and another boat plan on leaving around 10:00am on Friday which would put us at your marker around 10:45. If it's smooth I may run the outside but since I have another boat following we may just run the ICW.
