Well its getting to that time of year again :smt038. Memorial day weekend. The official start of the boating season. As most of you know the annual airshow will be held at zacks bay (jones beach ampitheater) and we usually get a nice raft up going.

Who will be attending?
I kniw sandy had a major impact on coastal and icw's. So anybody with navigatiob information of jones inlet fi inlet and all waters in between is asked to share. Please.... its always a great turn out And everybody has a great time and I cant wait till this years event.

Also if anybody is willing to go the night before and grab one of the 3 or 4 pillings in the bay that would help out with the raftup. If not anchors always work. I would go but I. Leave for fire island Thursday's afternoon and only come back for the airshow and then head back to fi.

All welcome

VHF Communication:
69- primary channel to communicate with the group.
72- backup channel if we get too much noise on 69.
16 - is always on. This will be the channel to use in case if we don't get respons on 69 or 72. Once the communication is established with a vessel we'll ask to switch to 69 or 72, whichever will be the better option at the time.

Please post if I missed anyone.

Sorry fellas. This is the second year in a row that my wife has purchased season passes to Great Escapes up at Lake George. My in-laws have a house up there so now we go up Memorial Day weekend AND the Fourth of July weekend!! Gotta get full use out of the passes!! LOL
Two great boating weekends down the tubes. At least the kids really enjoy it so I guess it's all good! :)

Since it's just across the river, I'm in.

Do you guys want to do another port like we did last year?

Ohh damn lol I guess I did spell it wrong again. Why dont you guys head out to fi after the show?

I don't know if you guys have seen the other thread on this but as per the Navy website apparently, the Blue Angels will be grounded after April 1st due to sequestration. I don't know who else comes to the air show at Zach's Bay.

Todd,
Its an entire afternoon of different aircraft and shows. The Blue angels are the main event, but not the only event. FYI, this year it was the Air Force Thunderbirds which were the main event, but they got Obamaized as well.

Probably impossible to get a slip there on Memorial Day weekend, people put their boats there a week before hand and you can't get a slip

If there's a place to raft up then it could work.

Keep the ideas on other ports coming, I'm sure we can find something.

Ron,

That's what I meant, USAF Thunderbirds. My bad.

There are tons of areas to drop the hook all along fi but theres no protection from anything. Very rocky while sleeping and then you have to worry about all the boozers hitting u in the middle of the night. There's really nothing seperating the channel and anchor areas.
