With all the fun we had during our Winter Rendezvous at Todd’s place it’s time to start thinking, plan itinerary and start booking vacation time off for our next adventures. As our rendezvous become more and more successful with the experiment we did last year it’s time to officially take it to the next level and turn our rendezvous in to official “CSR Northeast Flotilla” where the group will not just meet up at a marina, but we will travel from port to port as a group and our destinations will be mixed between marinas, mooring and/or just anchorage in a beautiful cove.

To clarify how is this different from other rendezvous we had in the past, the new approach simply works for everyone. Don't let the title scare you away thinking that you have to sign up for a week of cruising from the first port all the way to the last port. The beauty of the new approach is that regardless of your schedule, location and ability to travel you can join the flotilla at any port for any length of stay that works for you.

Here’s my proposal for our “CSR Northeast Flotilla 2013”:

Date: August 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] – August 11[SUP]th[/SUP]

Updated 6/13/13: We're all set to have the Feast of the East on Taylor's Island on August 3rd: http://taylorsisland.org/

Taylors_Island.jpg

Itinerary:
1. Shelter Island (raftup).
2. Cruise to Block island (most will be rafter in the anchorage area and others will stay at Champlins).
3. Cruise to Newport (mooring or marina).
4. From Newport we're splitting in to two Groups:
- Group 1 (heading West back home) to Greenport.
- Group 2 (heading East) to Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket, etc...
5. From Greenport to home port (GSB or LIS).

Getting There:
Most likely we'll have majority traveling from two directions GSB and LIS. So, here's a quick maps and basic Float Plans for each.

From/To GSB:

From/To LIS:

Getting There - Alternative Ways: For those who is unable to participate by water keep in mind that there are always other options. As you can see from previous rendezvous, we had folks who drove to a port or took their cars on a ferry and crossed over to places like Block and Newport. The options are there, so if you want to make it and meet the fleet come on over.

Let’s get the ball rolling, Captains!!!:smt038

To bring back some great memories, here are the links to our past rendezvous:

Let me guess how this is going to turn in to a flotilla. You anchor your boat near WH and we're going to do circles around you? Oh wait, you don't have an anchor. Well I guess that's not gonna work.

No my friend, this time you'll have to actually burn all the fuel in your tank within one season (during the flotilla week). Sherri said yes, so I'm not taking any BS from you...

Im up for itinerary a only one problem. Your legs go right over land. I dont think thats gunna work for to much of us:smt043

Havana Shamrock. Joe,Martha, kids TBD. Mirage. 2007 36DB 13'Beam 30Ax2. Option #1 looks good to me.

That's the way to do it, boys. Good job, Joe

Alex,
I want to suggest the following changes. Can we get the Rendevous to migrate east for those may wish to continue to destinations east. Itinerary suggestion:

1. Shelter Island(Coecles Harbor-anchorage) Suggesting Coecles over West Neck as there is more room for a raft up if we get a good turn out.
2. Cruise to Norwich (marina)
3. Cruise to Block island (anchorage and marina)
4. Cruise to Newport ( marina) or Greenport/Riverhead for those wishing to head back west.

From Newport, captains can decide to continue east to Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket, etc...

This also allows for rotating between anchorages and marinas......

rcmafgny, Ron, Wendy, Knot For Sale, 2006 26DA, GSB, TBD
Definitely in for Shelter Island and Block. Depending on weather and other factors, Newport is a maybe. Plan B for us would be to stay in Block a little longer, stop in Greenport on the return and maybe meet Todd in Watch Hill before returning to our Home Port. We are thinking the 2nd or 3rd through the 11th.

The admiral just said she would rather go,to Newport so plan B for us now, what do you think the water levels will be like at Shinnecock? It was so shallow last year ,after Sandy is it even worse? Man I'm really looking forward to this trip already!

No worries, X. I'm sure things will workout one way or the other. Just give it some time.

Steve/Ron, great replies. This is exactly the responses we need to make progress. I'll be adding all the info to the first page where we'll have list of choices. Soon enough it'll be the "spreadsheet time" :smt038 ....

Ron, nice sig pic where'd you get it??????:smt038

Speaking of sig. pix. Did you guys know that doing the flotilla is the window of opportunity to get your best sig pix taken (for free).........

Here's an idea. We don't need lobsters, but if we can have Rusty talk Sea Ray into getting us a few nice shots by boatpix.com that would be awesome!
