LI Rendezvous - 2012

Lol I refuse to grow up!! Tell your wife to get a better job, like I tell mine, so you dont have to!! Then go boating ;-)

There are a total of 8 boats here at Champlins right now, amazing. Will be heading back for Taste Mystic this morning. Any chance your going to make Maritime in Greenport the end of the month? Great family event

Maritime was great. Anyone have any plans for Columbus weekend? I know there are a bunch of folks planning on Montauk Yacht Club. - $1.75 a ft!!!! Far cry from our visit- Im still crying

Cmon don't let the season die like this thread!!

Btw anyone thinking about the winter rendezvous ?

Wow, we just got back from a great day on the river.

I'm hoping to be in until November.

We spent the weekend at Watch Hill. Nothing like watching football on the boat in a transient slip. We've got plans for next weekend and the weekend after that. Once we get past the middle of October it's weather dependent but I don't plan on being hauled for the winter until the weekend before....or after, Thanksgiving. Then it's just a 15 week cold sprint to St. Patty's Day to cut her open and start all over again. Hope to see some of you on the water in the next few weeks. Todd, Paul will either of you be at Watch Hill for the Columbus Day weekend?

That's what I'm talking about!! That's my kind of schedule

Glad you had a good time, Russ. I wish I was closer to take part on the events.

With kids back in school means that we get to the boat Sat after the games instead of Friday night. Usually, September is an excellent month for boating in our area, but somehow most boaters tend to forget. In some respect it's a good thing. The anchorage areas have more room, night cruising is much safer as you don't see too many day boaters with no nav. lights on.

Last weekend we spent in one of our favorite spots as a crew of 6. We had my in-laws with us and for the first time I had to open the salon sofa for the night. Sunday morning was about 55*, but on my son's request I woke him and grandpa up to go fishing. We took the dinghy and drifted in the channel for few hours catching some blowfish, flounder, sea bass and one good size snapper. Even though the size of fish was nothing to brag about, but the main thing is we had a lot of fun. Then, we took my in-laws to see the lighthouse and did some walk on the trails. The weather was perfect with very light breeze. No one wanted to leave. With days getting shorter and shorter this time of the year is when night cruising is more frequent occasion (almost every Sunday night). Last night was no exception and we enjoyed the night cruise back to the marina as the night was settling. This the time when a radar is your best friend. Weekends like this don't allow me to winterize my boat until November (weather permitting).

Winter rendezvous is a must. It would be nice if we could do it more than on one occasion. Since we can't boat, perhaps we can do skiing as a group.

Hi Brian,

I know Paul is reserved for WH on Columbus with the "Friends of Watch Hill" group. He is on C pier in the first slip so you will pass him every time you head to Battleship row!!
I didn't reserve because my wife had to keep that weekend open to work per her new boss. It turns out she doesn't have to work but I still have 3 soccer games on Saturday and 2 Football games on sunday. I am considering skipping soccer and heading over Friday. It all comes down to what time the boys games are on Sunday. They are both starters and don't want to miss their games. I will know on Wednesday. Hopefully Friday to Sunday am and then pull out!

I am not skiing, not with my knees....I've already had surgery on them 3 times, with a 4th looming (right knee needs a tune-up).

I have one more weekend left in my schedule - my wife and I intend to spend the upcoming weekend at Haverstraw Marina. Anyone interested???

Since my Marina is in freshwater, the docks are coming out soon....

Dale

Hope you make it over for at least Friday and Saturday. I'll be leaving Sunday afternoon to attend a wedding (grrrr). The following weekend is the last of the season for Watch Hill so I plan on being there then too. I'll look for Paul on C Pier.

I am not skiing.....

I hear you, Dale and I'm sure number of folks don't. This is why having couple of different winter rendezvous would be best. Those that don't like or can't ski would have other event to attend.

Winterizing a boat is a project, but I'm glad I don't have to winterize a marina.

Greg,

We are slipped at West Shore Marina, in Marlboro. Where did you plan to stay? Maybe we can get together.

Dale

What do you guys do at watch hill if its not beach weather anymore? My family where done a while ago, if the water's not 86* they dont want to go. And we cant sit on the dock and look at each other for two days. ( or the boat) we need to move south.
