Zincs. What do they do?

Any idea where I can purchase the missing one? Is it needed? I have the bolt. Does the missing one have a built-in nut?

Yes, definitely replace the missing one. The bolt threads into the anode from the top. Some will have a fin used to set the low speed tracking. You should be able to find a replacement at any marine store or dealer.

Thanks. I'll replace that one and clean the others.

It looks like in the last picture that, that is the anode your missing:

On MY drives... (Alpha 1 (SEI106)) the hex nut can only be installed or removed when the upper and lower units are seperated. The bolt is then tightened through the hole in the upper unit onto the trim tab anode. I noticed that THIS anode wears faster than the other ones on my boat. (or maybe its just more noticable)

I have been told, that this anode also assists in slow moving steering. I can not confirm or deny this, however I can say that the Skeg itself DOES assist in slow speed steering.

I do not have an anode for the prop, and I have not seen one in the ready to use kits. However, MY Alpha ones (gen 1) maybe yours are gen 2?? do not have an anode on the cavitation plate as yours appears to. Nor do I have anodes on my trim thrusters. (my anodes are on the bolt you see in your first pict top right).

I have the exact same trim line anode. VERY IMPORTANT, under that trim line anode, on the boat itself there is a hole for some crazy reason. included in the anode kits is a rubber grommet that closes this hole. Failure to close this hole, will result in a steady stream of water into your bilge. (can you guess how I found this out?)

The anode I believe you are missing looks like a mini skeg (for an Alpha 1 gen 1), someone above mentioned it may be flat? Again, if yours is a gen2 I'm not sure of the anode differences.

Is the grommet located on the top of the outdrive?

I keep that grommet on my boat. It covers the hole for the screw that attaches the zinc you purchased. I believe the post before is referring to another rubber grommet.

Any idea where I can purchase the grommet? I checked with West Marine - no dice.

Lawyer:: that anode is the type I have that i believe you are missing.

The grommet is the black mushroom looking thing on the left of this picture.

For your missing anode, there is no grommet to worry about. And as far as I recall, you can change that one without removing the lower unit from the upper. Ther is a little rubber cober that goes over the bolt hole, but it is not critical to have.

The fin style is nice as you can set it at an angle to help you steer straight at low speed, but when I changed my prop it interfered and I had to use a flat plate style.

And you do have an Alpha I Gen II drive.
