Official 320 Dancer Thread

My generator pulls fuel from the Port side. (Fuel valve is on the top of the tank just under deck below the port side seat) My boat is a 2006, so maybe something changed?

Same here, Port Side tank. There is a fuel filter right by the solonoid for the supply.

Brady (Brady Bunch) is my cousin. I haven't poked my head in there yet, but is the strainer separate from the strainer for the main engines? I'd like to help him fix this but if you guys have any pictures that would be great before we head to the boat.

The strainers for the mains are in the front of the engine compartment (by the transmission on V drive) , much easier to get at then the one for the generator or air conditioner which is in the back starboard side. The strainer for the starboard side engine is right below the circuit breaker box mounted on the wall, the one for the port side engine is right next to the port side fuel tank.

Well this is the second time that my 320 breaks in the bahamas. Culprid was the fuel pump relay port side is this normal? Last time was exactly 12 month ago same engine guess I need to carry spares.

I have had the same problem, with both engines, turns out the relay sockets was bad as well. They changed the entire wiring harness to replace the sockets and relays (warranty Thank God!). You should take a look at the relay socket for any signs of a hot connection (burnt pins). Good luck.

Thanks I will have Marine Max take a look at it when i get the boat back to the US.

The strainer on the 320 is on the starboard side of the boat close to the generator. There are four strainers on my 320DA, each engine has one, the heating/cooling system as well as the generator. I check mine spring and fall, never much in mine other than a stray leaf or two. Unless someone beats me to it I will take a picture this weekend. I need to get a spare wrench to keep with my spare generator impeller on board. Can't remember the size until I go back. And yes, after installing my all chain, a few bruises, and the typical knuckle cuts are a staple when I'm in the engine room...:smt001 Good luck !!

Well we traded our 320 for a 36Db, they finally prepped the boat for the trip to Boston, heres a few shots she looks even sportier w/ o the arch!!

Ok, I have a question to all the 320 owners.... My '05 was delivered to me March '2009 and was still premium certified and warranty was extended out until March '2012. When boat arrived, BOTH water pump assemblies were toast and the entire units had to be replaced, thankfully under warranty. Fast forward to last Sunday, my starboard engine sets off alarms and loses power, and shreds the serpentine belt while on plane, black smoke, noise, all the stuff you never want to see. Long story short, MM tells me I need another new starboard water pump assembly, approx $400 parts, $100 belt, lots labor, estimated between $800 and $900 total. Seriously, this will be water pump #3 for my starboard engine on an '05 low hour boat.... Nobody at MM seems to know of any recalls or anything. Personally I'd think they should not fail every 3 years. Anyone else have this kind of experience other than me??? TIA

Sorry to read about the issues Steve. Knock on wood, my 2005 has never had that problem. You might want to post under the gas engine mechanical section of the forum. Frank Webster is usually spot on for knowing what's going on, so perhaps reach out to him as well.

I did have the cold fuel filter modules fail last year.. Frank had warned about those too.

Anyway, good luck ...

Barry

Yep, same thing happened to me at the end of last season when I dropped off my boat for winterizing. I could hear a loud muffled sound coming from the port side engine.
I had to change the water pump and the belt.
The boat only has 180 hours.

Barryg and pog mo son, thanks for your input, it's much appreciated. Still just seems crazy to me that these water pumps and belts have had such a high failure rate. Oh well. Guess I was hoping mercruiser had a recall or something, no such luck. Two months sooner would have been warranty item replaced twice. Oh well, the sooner fixed sooner I can get back on water. Hope today it is done. Happy boating everyone :)

Does anybody know what size are the windshield wipers on the 320? I need to replace them and they have a bunch of different sizes on eBay.
I couldn't find the part number.

Thank you.

Take a look at your blades. If they are like mine, they have the same clips as the ones you can buy at an auto parts store, and then just use the refill rubber inserts. A lot cheaper, at least compared to what my dealer wanted.

I changed my at the beginning of last season to the "Rain-X" brand that I bought from an auto parts store. Excellent results so far.

the lights over my solon seat-there are 2-can be adjusted/directed- nickel finish- one light bulb has gone out-how does the cover remove to replace bulb-I don't want to damage the vinyl- no set screw that I can see-maybe just pries off-any ideas?
