Official 320 Dancer Thread

Just finalized the deal on a 06 320 (yay!!!!!) I'm shopping for a chartplotter, but I don't have access to the boat for a couple weeks. Can someone tell me the dimensions of the large panel on the port side of the dash?

Also...I had a lowrance HDS 7 on my 260DA and it worked great. But it looks like nearly everyone has Raymarine chartplotters on their 320's. Should I be switching to Raymarine?

Thanks!

Steve,
First congratulations on your new 320 and of course you will have to post pictures and tell us how it is equipped. Second, my 320 had the Raymarine C80 Chartplotter which you can see to the left of Captain Corgi which just fills the spot. I had a Lowrance GPS unit on my first two boats and found the C80 to be more intuitive to use so I can give it a first hand recommendation. If your new boat doesn't have a VHF radio you might consider adding it also and have it hooked into the Chartplotter like it was on my 320 to get coordinates if you get in trouble. Read through this thread and you will find a lot of good information about upgrades and issues with the 320. If you decide to go with the C80 check out prices here first with Jim and also I bought the Navionics Gold Chip from him that I put in my C80.

Steve-Congrats on the 320...It's a great boat. I have a Garmin 4208 chartplotter in mine-it does fill the entire side panel. I can get you the dimensions of the panel if you like. Let me know

I looked at the garmin 4208/5208 series and really liked it. It would barely fit on my 300DA so I went with the 700 series chartplotter and integrated sonar, and also connected in the HD RADAR, and DSC from my VHF radio. I was used to working raymarine products on other friends boats, but I do not regret my choice at all. I wish I could have fit the bigger screen, but otherwise it's been great and very reliable.

The BOE guys did a great job, Jim with specing things out for me, and vance doing the install.

Just my .02
James

I decided to go back to the Lowrance. I bought the HDS-8M with a Navionics Platinum card. Very cool graphics, and it fits great.

I've just purchased an 06 320 and have a very basic question: Do the fuel tanks feed into one line and empty equally, or do I need to manually switch from one to the other as I use gas?

I'm going to "Assume" you have 2 engines, if thats the case the Port Gas Tank is for the Port Engine and Starboard for Starboard!!

Each tank feeds an engine and the port side feeds the generator. So you usually pull that side down a little quicker. I always add fuel in 100 gallon increments total. So I usually add 5 extra gallons on the port side for generator usage. They pull fuel pretty close to the same.

Thank you!

Yesterday I fired up each engine while still on the hardtop and ran each one up to operating temperature; she will be splashed first thing Monday morning. While in the process of doing this I noticed that BOTH prop shaft seals are getting water lubrication at the same time no matter which engine is running. That’s good to know if you are ever out and have to limp back on one engine. Even though the idle engines prop will still turn at least the shaft seals are getting lubrication.

..............Hey guys I'm jumping in here just to show you some pictures I took today. You may have seen the thread I started on the "grill side tables". I took the table down to measure and take pictures on my cousin Brady's 05 320DA. It looks very good.
Have a look and let me know

Hey Guys, I've been so busy with work and life that I haven't been on CSR for a long time, and even worse, haven't really used my boat much in the past year, though it is sitting out in the water behind my house. I start the engines and genny every other weekend, and do some general stuff, but have found myself working 6 days a week and too tired on the day off. I am trying to motivate myself to get it back in shape and start taking advantage of the beautiful weather and waterways here again!
One thing that has driven me nuts again, is the sump pump went bad again, and I have to replace it for the 2nd time. Anyone else have this problem, any good sources for the box with the switch and pump, and any suggestions..

Thanks,
Barry

Looking to put JL Audio 7.7s in as new speakers and was wondering if anyone else has done this. Specifically, I'm looking for if the depth of the speaker will fit on the radar arch spots. The depth deeper than the Polk speakers so just want to make sure it wont be a problem before I order them. Thanks

If this is for a 320 then I don’t think they will fit. I used the JL Audio M650's in mine and they butted up to the inside fiberglass. I cut myself a gasket to place between the speaker and fiberglass just to give me a couple of millimeters clearance. It is tight! On the good side, they sound great!

Yeah its for a 07 320. Not quite what I wanted hear haha but great info! Glad I didn't make that mistake. Maybe ill put 6.5s on the arch and 7.7s on the other two in the cockpit.

The one in the front of the cockpit port side (by the cabin door) is even closer, so I know the bigger speaker will not fit there either. To be honest the 6.5’s sound great, especially when you add the 10’ JL Sub. Here is a link to a thread I did some time back on my speaker / amp upgrade.

Well that poses another problem because JL doesnt make the component speakers in 6.5s, just the 7.7s. I might have to get the Polk speakers that come with the premium sound system option. I guess I can still get a JL sub though. Thanks for the info
