Mike do you know if the replaced the housing and the impellers or just the impellers? I would say that with knowing there's only 6hours on them get a spare set for backup and use them. Just my opinion but I wouldn't think they be to bad since Ron said they don't dry out with antifreeze. Good luck to you. And keep me posted on your dealings. We will have to have a celabration when its over...

I switched from 3 to 4 blade last year after banging up my 3 blades. I had a extra set of 4 blades that I had repitched to 17x17 with a medium cup. My 340 ec now cruises at 23 kts.+ at 3100 RPM with a WOT of 4400-4450 RPM.
The props have a little more bite when docking. The boat seems to run smoother at cruising speed. My best fuel economy is 22 kts at 3050 RPMs before the 4 barrels kick in.
 
Next question. Has anyone changed the layout in the cokpit with the coffin seat in the rear? I saw an 87 on ebay that was updated with a newer type seat configuration. I saved the pic for future reference and when I went back to it, it was the size of a postage stamp.

Would love to see pics if anyone has. Im thinking about a wrap around type upgrade for more seating. Although there goes the storage of the coffin
 
Sounds interesting... I like the rear bench I'm not sure I would change it. I did how ever see some one changed the dinette in the cabin to a wrap around I liked that except for the jungle print.
 
If you didn't mind your feet dangling a foot in the air, it would be nice to have a convenient way to turn the passenger helm seat around to face the rear bench.
 
Now, Here would be my upgrade for the cockpit. I never use the wet bar. It is just wasted storage for me. Some day I want to install a horizontal fridge in the location. What do you guys think of that?
 
Mike, that is an interesting idea. I was thinking something more stream lined. But that's a good concept.
 
On a 1980 360 T-Top my family owned we removed the port side bench seat that faced aft and put in a wet bar with refrigerator, I will have to see if I have a picture somewhere. The person we sold the boat to asked how we got that option, little did he know we built it!
 
Not trying to hijack the thread but not sure where else to go. I need all of the advice I can get in replacing the impeller in the 454 for my 1988 340 EC. I have read terrifying stories about the port engine and am hoping you guys are the answer. Let me have it.......and thanks
 
In a nutshell, remove the pump from the engine and take it out to change the impeller. It isn't that bad. You seriously have to lay on top of the engine (lay out a big moving blanket or something) and get your head way down in the hole. Take all the tools you'll need in with you b/c it aint easy getting back out. Take 400 mg of ibuprofen before you start and get the little ones off the boat - this job is rated "R" for strong language and violence.
 
I have the fortune of having the bronze/brass Jabsco raw water pumps on mine (cheapest impeller kit was $103 ea.) but one thing I would add to Rons comment. Keep a cell phone near your hands or have someone nearby. Many (including myself) have got their head and torso wedged down in there and had to push/pull themselves out!
Once you get the pump out it's not that hard at all.
I'm not sure if any of our boats ever came with the "coolfuel" fuel pump/water pump option, but there is a write-up in the tech articles on servicing them here.
Heres a post that shows some nice diagrams of the pump and bracket layout.
