460 DA Owners Thread

I have a Visio in the cockpit and 3 Toshibas in the cabin, because they were the best I could find with built in DVD players

Many of these boats have actual refrigerator doors, I have 1/2" think wood panels that attach to the door for the "where is the refrigerator" look!
Not sure what to suggest for a replacement. Do you have an invertor? The refrigerators are very thirsty and suck the batteries down quickly!

I like the cockpit ICEMAKER. I keep the ice maker on all the time and then refill a cooler each night and that works well

Good luck with the closing process! We all need more pics!

My fridge has those wood doors also, I have never seen on without.
I'm heading down Friday to close. The boat is in water in front of the PO's summer home. We are actually staying there at his house over night, he's a really nice guy, it's not used in the winter. We will go through some things on the boat and then drive back. The boat will stay there for now until weather breaks and I don't have to worry about winterization.

Hellos all, This will be my 5th season with the boat, still love the boat. Have done some upgrades, installed ranier windows between the hardtop and glass, really a nice product. changed the cockpit ice maker to a fridge, installed cockpit TV, changed all TV's to flat screen, changed the Clarion to a Fusion, new Icom VHF, Changed the overhead cockpit light to 2 switches and installed Blue and whiite LEDs, Switched to GEL Cell Batteries. Russ if you get any feedback on the carpet runners would love to know, lasrt time I priced them with a local canvas guy it was like $800.00. Bob

Bob, will do and welcome! Please post pics if you can, we would love to see her. How is the ice maker to fridge swap working out? I am waiting for Boatswains Locker to respond on the runners but I think buying Sumbrella and making them is optn number two. I will let you know.

Russ....There is a bit of a cold spell heading here this weekend.

A good two-three days of below freezing temps. Being that the boat is in the water it will keep things somewhat warmer and you shouldn't have to worry too much. However, if the water lines along the outside of the hull were un-winterized during your survey, they will be suseptable to freezing. You may want to bring a couple of protable heaters with you this weekend to plug in down below.

If the boat has been re-winterized...ignore.

Dom, no the surveys are all done. Boat is winterized, we are just closing and spending the day playing with the new toy, to do lists and such

Can someone advise me how many yards of tape I need to replace the dark blue and the gold tapes that run along the waterline.

I know the boat is 51 feet long, but the tapes are quite a bit shorter than the hull length at the waterline.

My boat is 1,000 miles away, so don't want to just guess.

Thanks

Graham

There is a part number in your parts manual for this tape.

You can't go wrong with having more than you need. I like keeping some extra for myself if there is a spot patch I need to do down the road.

I ordered 125' of each color for my boat, I have plenty of extra for when the time comes.

Your cockpit looks great. I never saw a TV lift like that.

Thanks Alex. I just don't like spending time downstairs, and you couldn't watch the small factory TV unless you were no more than 4 feet a way. So I designed it from off the shelf parts and square steel tubing. Had every thing powder coated silver. It is 110 volt powered, Goes up and down with flick of a switch. Automatically stops at the top and bottom. The Audio Video tech from our local Sea Ray dealer wanted to know where I bought it. I made sure it had to look like something Sea Ray would have installed. If anyone is interested in making one, there really isn't that much involved. More than glad to help out. Thanks again.

Bill, I have a better idea, how about you make it and I will pay for it!? I like that a lot, and I need one.

Also if your handy with that sort of thing maybe you can help with a search for another mount I have been searching for. I am putting in an M1 and I have see these flat mounts that slide in under the rear two feet of the radar and extends back like a shelf and it drops down or steps a bit to be level or a little lower than the arch and provides a nice little mounting platform for the dome (powder coated). Probably not more than 2ft long, no wider than an M1 dome and rounded to fit the dome in the rear. Relatively
simple, I would think but I cannot find one. If you can fabricate like this tv mount, it should be easy and you just found a new biz! Btw, which tv did you use? And where did you get the cover?

Thanks

I have asked this before I think, but not had a reply.....

My 2002 460 has TWO Iso Transformers, not the usual one that is sometimes fitted as an option.

Does anybody else have two, and can anyone advise if I can remove one of these units, I have not been able to figure out yet how they are wired into the boat, I hope someone else knows a little more about them.

I presume there are two fitted giving one to each line coming into the power distribution board.

I would like to remove one to give a little more access to fuel filters etc in the engine room. I normally only leave Line One turned on to shore power when we are away from the boat, that ensures the battery chargers are powered up, but nothing else.

Any guidence appreciated

Graham

Graham,

My boat is the same vintage and I have noticed that from 2002 on they have one Iso Transformer like mine. I don't know the purpose of the second unit but my friend has a 55DA that has two.

Where are your units mounted? My Iso Transformer on a "table" forward of the genny. It makes accessing the raw water intakes a bit of an excercise so I am considering reworking the "table" support legs.

One unit is mounted forward of the Genset, the other unit is mounted aft of the Port engine, making getting to the Port fuel filters a real mission!

I am going to look and see if it is possible to mount one or both in the transom lockers.

I would hope that one can be taken off the boat completely, if the only purpose they serve is to prevent against power surges, I would be happy to just have one on the line that supplies the battery chargers.

Is that all they are for? Do they all have them? I don't think I noticed it

Russ

I think they were an option, and are to protect from shore power spikes, lightening strikes etc..

Someone with more knowledge may improve this answer, however my issue is the space they take up

Hi Graham,

If they were an option you should be able to remove. But like you said best to talk with someone knowledgeable. Did you try posting in the electric section?
