The Turtle goes south

Mike, that's better than making the trip in a Ford Excursion!

That roughly comes out to .85MPG as your AVG. Not too bad considering that you didn't have chance to run at your sweet spot as much as you wanted.

Uhhhhhh, no? Flip it and reverse it maybe...

Numerator and denominator reversed. Yep. Good catch Ken.

No, that comes out to about 1.18 mpg average.

You're right, my bad I misplaced the numbers. It's miles/gal=1.176....man, that is awesome performance.

How many hours did you put on the engines for this trip?

Math in public - always a dangerous thing Alex!

Not, if you're not afraid or ashamed to make a mistake. The main thing is how you recover and what you learn from it. Sometimes we learn most important things in life by making a small mistake, but then we're grateful for the lesson.

That is performance you'll only get from a 'dancer. Too much wind resistance on those bridge boats ;-)

Ron, we simply pay for the luxury of REAL estate.

The only reason the fuel mileage was that good is because the first 500 miles were at no wake speed beating across the Atlantic Ocean, beating across the Delaware Bay, beating down the sissy part of the Bay.

Oh, now you're revealing all the secrets of long distance cruising. Not sure it was warm enough this time, but on the way back north Mike will be chilling on the sun pad drinking his espresso, autopilot engaged and just watching him slowly trolling his way on the iPad.

Don't forget one of these, Mike.

He went South Carolina, not South Dakota...

Bilge Heater
Oil filled heater for the cabin
HVAC set on 50
If you're really paranoid, put some pink in the water lines

and, as always, just run the sumbitch...

it's winter in Dixie. Probably be 75 degrees on Christmas Day and snow the day after.

I've been here almost 15 years, snowed twice, melted by noon!

It's funny because EVERYONE knows the two times it's snowed in the last 20 years down there. You can literally ask anyone and they'll tell you the two years it snowed.

Rick, if you have your HVAC turned ON all the time and set to 50, why do you need Oil filled heater for the cabin? Are you using it as a backup or is there another trick I don't know about?

I can sure see that being the case. But, we all understand that snow isn't the issue we're concerned, it's the temps dropping bellow freezing. I was always under the impression that people cover their ER vents to minimize cold air entry to help maintain the above 32 temps.

Ok Alex, Add some vent covers to my Christmas gift list.

You're getting "soft" on me. I was expecting you to ask for A/P remote control.

Since you're not like Gary, I'll make you foam cut-outs.

I thought the remote was a stocking stuffer.

No, that's SC peanut soup.
