Any 195 owners out there?????

Guys...

Glad we resurrected this thread! Good to know there ARE some 195 owners out there, who all enjoy working on their boats! Dalefan, although I haven't tackled the project yet, the dual battery set-up is next in my boat. Mitch is correct in his statement, 2gauge or 4gauge is the way to go on the power wire from the battery (everything I've read online says 2-4gauge is great, I just want to match everything.... From the looks of it, my 195 has 4gauge running from battery to motor). I've done a ton of research on this the last few months and I will be cutting the battery terminal connection off and soldering on a 4gauge ring terminal that will go to the "Comm" terminal on my Perko switch..... From everything that I've read, soldering and NOT crimping creates a better, more permanent connection. Not to mention it looks A LOT cleaner, in my opinion....

Pics please.....

Dont have any pics of the work I've started ready for upload, but here's the boat.

Great looking boat!!! I had originally ordered the black, but it didn't have a tower.... They said "No problem, we can add the tower when it gets to our location..." Cool.... I'll wait a week.... One week went by, then two.... Started to get the run-around.... I went back to the dealer, told them to sell the boat to someone else, someone who would put up with their shenanigans!!! Before it was all said and done, and as I was walking out of the dealership, they made me a better deal on a red one that was on the floor, with tower, tandem axle galvi trailer, etc....

I have removed the tribal graphics from mine but don't have a current pic.... I'll have to get one and post.....

Here is where I mounted the switch so that it is easy to get to. Also I have 1 battery on each side of the boat to help with balance. I'll post more pics after I clean the boat today and get down there with some zip ties to clean things up a bit!

Ive ben keeping up with your post for some time now. I have a 195 (2006) Ive been having stereo issues. I run mine in salt water (SW Florida-Sanibel). Though Longview Texas is hom for me. Anyways, when I bought the boat there was a bazooka sub, two bazooka tower speakeers and the factory clarion speakers and had unit. None worked..the Amp and sub all mounted in the engine compartment on the port side. I replaced the sub with an alpine (same box) and replaced the amp with two JBL 2 channels. replaced the towr speakrs with 4 polk audio speakers and will eventually add two speakrs on the bow and then replace the inside speakrs. I mounted bouth amps again in the engine compartment close to the sub. Too Hot im assuming b/c my sub amp already burned out. I think I might build a custom box and amp rack with sub to place on th lower part of the back seat. Id like to wire two remotes one on the helm and then one by the swim deck. (can this be done? So hre is my plan. 1st off a marine capaciter, three amps- 2 four ch, one for the tower and one for th inside, one 2 chan amp so i can bridge for my alpine sub I run. Already have two batteries and since I just lost my alternator on my las trip am going to replace it with a heavier duty one. Id like to build a rack to hold all amps in the cubby on the port side, dotn really ever use that storage space, if i decide not to build a box and wrap in vinyl to match....
Definatley want to install the leds so merge I might be emailing you!! I'm pretty savy on stereo install, (used to install as a job) I just need ideas on 1 looks and 2 function.

Welcome to the thread!! I am not the guy to ask about all the amps and such, but as far as the remotes.... Yes you can definitely run multiple remotes. You will just need a Y splitter and a couple of 25' cables.
Good Luck!!!

Today was a good day... Finally got a chance to break away and install the dual battery set-up in my 195!!!! Took me a total of about 3 hours, start to finish.... Had to get everything out of the engine compartment, remove battery box, etc.... Glad that project is out of the way!!! Took a pic or two while working on it, just haven't downloaded them from the cam yet! I'll post them as soon as I get them off the cam....

dfav000... I look forward to hearing from you.... I'll try to help you out where I can...

Got the pics off the cam....

The battery box you built looks nice! I just got done installing my switch also and took the boat out yesterday and it worked great. I also installed my tower speakers, subwoofer, and both amps to run them. I put one amp on top of the sub box and the other I have right now in the back of the side compartment on the port side. I just have the sub box sitting next the the second battery under the sun deck. Hopefully it will not get too hot in there. All of the speakers worked great except I have some engine noise coming through the tower speakers so I am going to have to troubleshoot that. The ground is fine so I am not sure what it is. I forgot to take pics after but I do have some when in the middle of it. I will post them below..

Now the bad news, the engine is missing now, especially at low rpms. I dont know if it is water in the gas or something worse. I am going to change the fuel filter first and go from there. Anyone ever had this?

Here are the pics, I will be out of town for a couple weeks and will try to get the finished product pics when I get back....

Got a chance to test the dual battery set-up today in my 195! Everything must be wired correctly because there were no sparks flying from the engine compartment! Worked just as it is suppose to!!! I've been talking about it for a minute, but I also added the LED rings to both of my radio remotes... I made them several months ago, just hadn't had the opportunity to install them! I think they turned out pretty good!!!!

Merge360 - great job on the dual battery installation. When you put new holes down to secure the battery box, did you just drill a hole and put a screw through, or is there more to it - a molly, some sealent, glue, etc.?

Dave205...

Sorry for the late response.... Busy working... Thanks for the compliments! Your exactly right, drilled some small, new pilot holes and secured the battery box with longer, same thread size screws, that were in my old battery tray... Picked them up at the local hardware store, stainless steel.... No molly bolt, no sealant, no glue.... Pretty straight forward.....

Merge loving the battry box! Ive got two on mine, but would like to make mine as neat as yours. Ive got it narrowed down. Sony had unit with two remotes, 4 6.5 polk audio speakers inside. (have to drill new holes in the front) keeping my 4 polk audio tower speakers, but replacing my two JL amps with 3 sony two channel amps. And my newest idea for the sub (since I cant hear mine in the engine compartment) anyone ever see the L seat thats on the parts list for the 195 sport?? Im going to order one...ben wanting one anyways....and build my box in it. Im pushing an Alpine sub so it must be sealed anyways. Still debating on where to mount the amps. Either under both front storage or on both side cubbys. I figure what Ill do is buy mine little by little and winter time comes and I wont be in the water as much do all my mods...That will help my bank as well. I will def be posting project pics.
Here is one for now on our yearly vacation in Boca Grande Florida.

Great looking boat! The 195 makes for a fine photo specimen! Please post pics of your projects as they start to take shape.... Would love more info on the "L" seat your refering to.... Seems familiar but would like the specifics if you have them available!!!! Again, you've got a great looking 195!!!

Will do Merge! And thanks for the compliments, If I can get mine as half as clean as yours Ill be happy! I can honestly say that its my third year with her, and we use it! so it shows a little, now I just have to put a littl TLC into her!
Also going to get the fabric redone, was thinking black and white with grey piping. Something that matches evrything. I love the red but its faded a little and not a huge fan of it on the black boat.
Here's the parts manual for ours, it has the L bench in there. Im going to call marine max tomorrow to get a price on it.

dfav000...

Good looking out on that manual! Printed it out just to have for reference should I ever need it! When you get the details of the "L" bench from MM, please post the details! Looks like it might make for a good sub box! Interior sounds like a BIG job, when might you tackle this task???? I'm currently viewing options for a custom bow filler cushion.... Think I'll have to have it made (the upholstry part).... Also exploring possibilities of a custom partial wrap on the exterior... We'll see....

By the way, don't know if you've posted it and I just missed it, hour many hours do you have on your 195....???

Im gong to start probably nxt month. Its still wakeboarding season and quit warm. Im going to buy everything little by little and try to resist the urge of going to install one by one. The marina I keep mine at is great about putting it on a work rack right when I need it, so if I cna go just 30 min or so here and there they make it super easy.
I bought the boat with 100 hours on it, now it has 410 or so. I really try to take good care of it as it runs in the salt water. Ill keep ya updated

By the way I merge I have fly high sacs. I have two 150 lb bricks that I put in the front two storage areas, and then a 300 lb long sac that goes in the ski cushion. Tsunami pump.
It works great for me, a HUGE difference in the wake!
