Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

We just replaced the old TV/VCR Combo unit with a Flat Panel TV with build in DVD Player. I thought I would post the pictures for anyone who is interested. We gained an entire cabinet!

I ordered the door from Rocker Woodworking (www.rockler.com It's 18.75 x 19.75 - color = Summer Flame = $55). The bracket is made for RV's so it locks in place (OmniMount LCD Flat Panel Cntilever Mount - RV Locking TV - Found on ebay - brand new for $50 with shipping). The TV is 19" and with shipping an tax was about $160. Of course, the help from my father - priceless :)

Very cool......The cabinet idea is great....wish i had though of that, Mmmmmmmmmmm got me thinking....

Is there a rubber gasket that goes around the bilge hatch???

Not sure if putting one there would quiet the engine noise
boat seems noisy when at 3400 .....
must confess i took off the cockpit table for another reason.
maybe that contributed to the noise level....

interesting

Hi Bill - I don't think there's a gasket to put there. In fact I think is should be left clear to allow water to drain off the back of the boat; if there's anything blocking the channel, the water backs up and drips onto the engines. Just ask any dog owner about that...
The engines are loud - those are two V8's under there running hard... sometimes I do envy the quiet peacefulness of the sailboaters. Then again I like to go fast...

Has anyone had to replace their "ac converter" (aka battery charger) yet? Mine is the original (2001) and seems to have died, it has no power coming out (confirmed there is power to the unit). Anyway, just curious how common this might be.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for stopping by Sunday, always nice to see you..
The engines just seemed louder sat for some reason:huh: and i just noticed it more:wow:
When we have the camper strato glass rolled down on the camper it's more quiet back there.

We love it anyway how it sounds.....hope to see you soon....:smt001

Hi Bob,
i think of that also, I hope someone chimes in so we know what to expect if it does happen

Had to do mine last year on my 01. Go with the big ProMariner and get the remote gauge so you can monitor what is going on with the charger. I think mine was about $800 with the remote. A little tight getting it installed but not to bad.

I replaced the one on my boat about 3 years ago. Called ProMariner and they sold me a new one at a reduced price. I don't remember the details, but call them they are great to deal with and will help you chose which one will work the best for you.

Evening.... Alot of action on the forum, which is good... Two pieces of info:

1) Converter ( Charger ) mine we out when I first had the boat... It was a simple fuse that had blown... Just removed the cover and there it was.... < $2.00 from the local radio shack and I was back n business and still going strong

2) I do have gasket material around all three engine hatches... Was chaging the oil this weekend and the glue is starting to wear out so it starting to come off.. Woul like to replace some of this... but there is definetly black rubber gasket material. This does not seem to block the water flow out the back... ( two exit ports where the cockpit drains empty onto the swim platform... ( what a mess this can put on swim platform )

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,
Did you notice any sound reduction with the gasket?? And Keith makes a very good point about the water unable to flow,
maybe you should re- check and make sure...I'm NOT going with the gasket..:smt009.and the black rubber coming off is not a good thing..

There another option i'm kicking around that goes under neath the berber carpet..

Im going back and forth with the manufacturer to see if its a feasible idea:huh:

We have the same boat and I have the gaskets. I doubt it seals much noise (which mine seems relatively quiet), but would keep any vibration down from the panels. Like yourself, mine started to come loose and used 3M adhesive spray to re fasten it.

Bills idea of the acoustic mat would probably work very well for excess noise.

Just would like to say HI to all. My wife and I will be picking up a 2000 310 sundancer this Saturday. Very clean boat and survey on it was great.

Great......Good luck......:)

Thanks all for the converter/charger advice. Finding out today whether my unit has a separate fuse inside or not (some do, some don't). When I removed the converter cover I didn't see anything. Already checked the fuse in the control panel and that was fine. Either way, I have myself prepared for a replacement:)

RE-sound proofed the engine hatch today, made a big difference in the noise level

Was your sound proofing gone, or were you just upgrading the material?

Some was missing and rest upgraded........ it does make a difference :)

Had to replace ours in 2009. We were out of town and could not get an original Charles brand. We ended up with a xantrex 20 amp model.
