Fight with the admiral, what's your sign?

Wow,, now there's a theory, but it ain't holdin cotton for me either, you see I'm an Aquarius and so is she..Hmmm We're both water signs and yet she still fights me on the new bigger 48DB, but she did say let it be her decision and I'll get what I want.. she just wants to be included in the whole thing... and she named the current boat so I think she's going to name the new one when we get it.,, only thing is, she named this one after some afternoon fun we were having....HmmmI think we're going to have to have more summer afternoon fun...together..hahahah can't wait fro spring to get here.
Good Luck on the new to you boat, and you'll LOVE IT.. trust me..

Another of the lucky ones.....the wife actually requested we get a boat, our first. As a first time owner I was looking at the 24-26' range of cruisers to trailer. The wife, with her infinite wisdom , preferred we not trailer and to get something in the 30' range, a couple of years old and a slip. Once over the initial intimidation, I see we made the right decision and would have had 2-footitis right off the get-go. Twins, genny, upgraded audio and electronics, boathouse.......yeah, she's a keeper.

She's a virgo, me...the taurus, if that means anything.

My wife loves a bigger boat but we also kept the smaller boats! A different boat for different occasions....like dresses! I do like working on them and they are paid for. She is ready to sell the 16 footer but it's a blast to run!...Mike.

Funny thing is as I read all of these replies I've had an opportunity to refelct upon my own past. I've been around and grew up on various vessels; from my dad getting his 1st which was a 255 Amber Jack, to a 28 carver, to a 38 carver (then we moved onto a private lake and he sold the larger ones in favor of getting a pontoon at the house and a ski boat across the street on the bigger lake [never happened ), to my grandparents living on the Great Lakes and sinking a sail boat :)smt009) they took me out on(litearally, my parents found out I went sailing on the 11 o'clock news.....limited access to my grandparents after that, not that I can blame them as I too would be upset if my kids were put on a sailboat ). Needless to say I've been around boats, water, and everything included my entire life, I knew what was involved and stayed away from purchasing my own. When we were buying our house I put my motorcycle up for sale, nothing fancy or too expensive, just a little extra cash for necessities like new furniture etc. A guy I used to ride with stopped, looked at the bike, and asked if I'd be interested in a trade, as soon as he said "for a boat" my mind said NOOOOOO and the admirals eyes went :wow: "boat"?!?!?! My mind went in the direction of bellows, oil changes, waxing,.........I'm certain you guys know the rest. Her mind went :grin:eek:n the lake  sun tan  laying out  fun  friends  relaxing:grin: Vin Diesel:smt038 The Rock:smt038 some more fantasies :smt101!!! Either way I blame HER!!!! I stayed away, SHE created this "monster" because I know that I have a love for the water, she does too, she loves the current boat but refuses to have any interest in the new one?!?! We even devised a plan to live on this thing next summer, as it will be closer to her new job, she was offered a management position last fall and put it off until spring because of the extra drive (over the Michigan winter is a no go). Now she's about 2 miles from work but to get the management job it's 45 min. away, BUT it's only 30 min. from the boat! I can work from anywhere so who cares!! She was all in and when it came closer to time to finalize and buy, she got antsy, not me thinking double the boat double the work, HER, SHE didn't want to do it! The one that started it all wants to stay where we are!
Oh well  thanks for reading my vent! :smt038

P.S.
I saw a comment about GW earlier....I wish! If it doesn't go in the microwave or have directions on the box, she isn't making it!:smt009 So I suppose that makes me the GW  as I am a fairly decent chef in my own right and do most of the cooking for the family (our frinds ask when they can come back for my cooking, not my companionship :smt043 ). So does that make me the GW, Captain, or.....?

Just an update...

As the admiral was sitting at the computer :smt024asking "What's this" and reading this post, and I was sitting there thinking of the hammer over the head guy :smt021for not deleting the history, I caught her laughing:lol:! She agreed with everything, then has since proceded to ask me when it will be here because she will be more excited about it then...

Since that time she is getting more and more antsy about the new boat, she asks questions, looks at the pictures of it, wants to know why it can't be here before then, and on and on. She likes to fish and I told her we would be fishing for walleye, she had no idea what that was so I googled her some pics. She couldn't believe how big they were:wow: (not that their that big), as she's never fished anything bigger than bluegill. Then she saw the teeth:smt101 and thought they were photoshopped and became scared! I showed her old photo albums of things that I have caught and now she's less scared and simply nervous, but that seems to ease with time as well.

All in all I seem to notice a trend; the more time goes on the better she gets. Maybe this is her way of keeping me grounded (or in control lol). See if I get over excited about the next season of boating while there's still feet of ice on the lakes, maybe it's her job to be completely uninterested to tone me down in the mean time. Checks and balances people, checks and balances! Cause if she didn't check me every once in a while, I'd balance us right into living on our boat!!:smt043

My trick was to take her on a long trip from San Francisco Bay to Monterey in our 320 spending 2 weeks on the boat. When we came back she was in love with the sea and wants back out in the ocean ASAP! The first thing she said when we returned was "We need a bigger boat". Boat shopping started a week later...

Nice! Unfortunately at this point I cannot say if she will even like the bigger waters as she's never been on anything larger than a 1,000 acre lake. I know that it can mess with people's minds to be out of sight of land, hope she fares well. She works every other weekend and the weekends she works she has Fri. and Mon. off and during those weekends I have her talked into 4 day staying on the boat weekends no matter what the drive!:smt038

For Scorpio (me)
It's bad enough having too many cooks in the kitchen, but when those cooks argue not only about how to cook the meal but also about how to design the kitchen, you know you have trouble on your hands. Tempers are likely to flare today. Everyone has an opinion about how you should decorate your home. Whoever pays the mortgage gets to make the final decisions. That should settle it.

Capricorn (her)

When it comes to professionalism and traditional values, Capricorn wins hands-down. This practical sign loves to tackle life in the most conventional of ways, leaving no stone unturned. Considered the most serious-minded of the signs, the Capricorn possesses an independence that allows for considerable progress both personally and on the job.

How the hell do I beat that !?!?!

She finally admitted that she didn;t want to step up to a bigger boat, she also admitted that she wanted to keep the smaller one fro the week days, and now she admits fear of the "Big Lakes".....so how do I deal with all of this beyond taking her out and FORCING her to enjoy it....because if she doesn't instantly love it, it will be me forcing her to!

I gotta say i would rather be on the bay ,lake huron ,erie st.clair ,than on lake fenton on a weekend .That lake has some crazy people operating fast boats where it is just way too crowded.

I agree with you 100%! Although last year was no where near as bad as previous years. She's never been on the big waters besides the ferries from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island which doesn't realy count anyway! She's never had to deal with the stresses of the people and traffic as she simply boards the boat sits back and relaxes and the rest is my problem.
The original plan was to keep the small boat that was close to home to use on week days, I put it up for sale not caring if it sold, and if it did I planned to buy a pontoon. It sold rather quick, and then I caught a lot of grief from my dad about buying a pontoon so I didn't. I refuse to pay Skipper Buds $1,600 per season for a slip on Lake Fenton, especially when my parents live there and I can slip for free, but at the same time I don't want a buch of grief from my dad for having a boat at his house either. Oh well one vessel is probably more than enogh anyway!

Mabey after a gooooood nights sleep on the boat things will look better to her ,also make sure you know where your going and if anything goes wrong like a breakdown or something ,be very calm and do the right things for the situation.Perhaps you can get her involved in a saftey class and she will then feel part of the crew ,and more in control of the situation, and then you can relax a bit too knowing she is there for you.

Oh no.....I'm really sorry to hear that. I went through the same thing many years ago. It's not easy.

Sorry to hear that... I too am going admiral-less this year looks like...:smt013

Oh well, her loss, but now I've gotta train someone new. (the last was a great first mate, she knew what to do, and when and wasn't bothered to pitch in and help).

Great advice; however no more admiral!

You can cook....learn to do your own wash. Get a bigger boat. Sometime it is less
aggravation. beside there are more fish in the sea!!:smt038 Ask me!:smt001

I believe the op has a couple of kids. That has a tendancy to complicate things a bit.

The boat will be delivered on Friday no matter what!

Yes, we have 2 kids together, the lights of my life and as well the reason I bought a SD instead of a WE!!!!!!!!! I have sole custody of the kids (court ordered signed by a judge) however she has found a way around that, and has......

...I'm not going to prove my guilt or innocense on here so it doesn't matter; but as a fellow boater the boat will be here on Friday and I was advised to go fishing on Sat. so fishing on Sat. I will go!

She never could cook and I am excellent at it!
We shared the laundry details (though I did all the ironing)
There was one room in the house that she was GREAT in (Kids B-days = 12/05/05 and 12/06/06 :wow: get it? )

I failed and it sucks!
