2008 44 Sedan Bridge Purchase

Is that 4 Sons new Sea Ray 9000 so he can shoot down so type of winged thing.

Guys, I'm on a boat! My new marina has Wi-Fi! We took her out to Shell Island today, took some nice pics, then continued to upgrade the electronics. Today, I installed an A/B (actually ABCD) switch for the aux audio input into the stereo. Didn't have that. How am I going to listen to concerts without the DVD player wired directly into the stereo? Now, I need to run a video source upstairs from the DVD to the Bridge TV so we can watch concerts up there. The sound is great up there.

We ate dinner, then my wife noticed we were rockin' and rollin' - without the music. Our NNW/9 winds were NNW at 18 - 20 and now forecast to go to 15 - 20 G 25. We came in a couple of hours ago. We're watching a Kansas DVD - "There's know place like home." Don't have the little white wire for the camera pics, but, I will upload them ASAP tomorrow.

This boat handles like a dream. You turn the sync on, set the power wherever you want it, and it feels like you aren't moving - until you look out the boat sideways. Today's numbers: 2250 RPM. 75% load. 26 - 26.5 mph. 36 gph. It just moves so easily. Auto pilot on, spin the little dial, and it lays over and cuts right around the corner. This boat really turns better than the 340. You can't feel or hear the engines unless you open the hatch to the bridge. I am truly impressed. This is with the new swim platform and our older, blow up dinghy (200 #).

That sounds really great! Enjoy!

Nice! That has to make it feel and seem so worth it now!

Best of luck this summer.

How is docking that boat compared to the 340?

Thanks to you both!

It's easier than the 340, but, I don't have much room on either side. Thank goodness we decided to bow in due to having a restaurant in front of the boat and a great view behind it.

Last night, when the winds picked up, we used every bit of marine knowledge we had. I focused the spot light over my shoulder to the leeward side of the boat, on shore, to see movement as it progressed. I waded to the shore and pulled the leeward stern anchor, then, I pulled the dinghy up and loaded it on the lift platform. Then, I reset the leeward anchor on a 20' leash on the windward side - enough to hold for about 1 minute. Then, I pulled the windward stern anchor and Shelli stowed it. Then, I climbed on board and slowly pulled the bow anchor line in with the windlass to keep the boat in position as the remaining, short leashed anchor drug. When the last stern anchor pulled itself off the shelf, Shelli pulled it in while I drew up on the forward anchor line to ensure we cleared the dock to lee.

After securing the forward anchor, I cruised back using my Chartplotter, Radar, Spot light as required, local knowledge, over and over and over until we had her safely at the dock about 1/2 hour later. Then, it was Miller time (Captain Morgan's).

Great pics.......fourth from last pic is now my current desktop shot.

Nice shots John. Congrats on getting things put together the way you want and now being able to actually use her!

You didn't add a FLIR....come on man - all that technology and no FLIR??!!??

Love your boat John.....Did you look at the picture of your smartcraft......Obviously you did.....Just keep an eye on your oil psi differential........

Good eye. We're not sure why it's that way - haven't started trouble shooting yet. I suspect the high reading is a false high. I don't think the other one is low - any experts?

At idle, they are matched. As you push it up, they both go to 50. Further pushing it up shows one steady at 50 and the other rising. Is there a pressure relief valve that could be sticking. There are actually guages on the engines, but, I haven't started them up and gone down into the ER to check them yet. At idle, they're matched any way. Can I push them up and then go down to the ER to check the raw data?

No.....you need the engines under load. Take the boat offshore and let Shelli drive and you go get the readings on the engine gauges. Confirming the differential on both the engine mounted and panel mounted gauges is the first step. If it is only on the SmartCrap or SmartCrap and panel gauges, then swap the senders and see if the issue swaps sides. If it does, order a new pair of senders. If it is only the SmartCraft, then I'd find out how good the warranty is and get the marina to run it down and fix it.

If there really is a differential between the engines, then the next thing to do is change oil filters just to prove that there isn't a problem with the bypass in the filter. It is also possible that one engine has more clearance than the other and this is a problem/condition you will have to live with. Either way, the oil pressure is acceptable on the lower side.......I'm more worried about reason for the high reading.
