Where did you find it? If you have any questions go ahead and PM me. I have beein damn near every orifice in my boat already and have updated the maintenance on most of her.

Congrats....the 410DA is a great boat with great handling characteristics. It cruises well and offers plenty of room for an average family. Two heads, two AC systems and real doors between the two staterooms. The CATs should give you a comfortable cruise of 21-23 knots while returning a very economical 'average' fuel burn of just over 1 sMPG.

You should have both a hull and mechanical survey before you purchase. Try and get as many of the service records, including oil samples, from the P.O. It's best to sea trial with a full load of fuel, water and stuff. That's not always possible, but do your best to get there. Very important is that both motors can reach a minimum of 2800 RPMs at WOT for a few minutes witout running HOT. Hot being over ~195 deg F. Don't rely on the dash mounted tachs unless they are digital. Confirm that the surveyor is using a laser tach.

Plenty of folks here that can help and offer advise. Post back with any questions and good luck.

Don't forget the pics....

Oh.. I guess that means that I'm fired as Frank H's broker....

You guys are so full of crap. And yes, I did somehow miss this post.

Good luck on your diesel 410. The boat is a great boat no matter what engines you have in there. As long as you never have to repair the innards of one of those 3126 CATs, you will have made the correct choice. Should you have to perform a repair, you are going to need to sell your car, take out a second mortgage on your house and maybe put your wife on the street to come up with the $$$ to rebuild one of those puppies.

The references to my gas burners by the aformentioned Northern crowd, refers to the fact that I purchased some Mercruiser factory long blocks that were defective. Mercruiser made good on the deal after paying the local dealer to swap out a half dozen or so defective ones. I now have 2009 8.1L gassers. The boat gets about .7 mpg whereas the diesel is probably 1.1 mpg or so. I could get that number up if I took a bunch of tools and spares off, but, if I was that concerned about the mileage I wouldn't have bought the boat to begin with. Based on the $11k I spent of fuel last year, I would have saved about $4k on fuel last year with diesels. Since the cost of a rebuild on a SINGLE 3126 motor is about $30k (at least that was what was given me by the local CAT dealer) I still have 15 years to go before I am even. I can afford to pay for the gas and buy another set of these motors before I am upside down on the deal.

So, not matter what the naysayers have to say, this deal works for me. I am happy with it and I'll burn up whatever gas it takes to get to Atlantic City in July, pay the bill and jawbone on the dock with those other 410DA owners whose opinions may differ from mine.

And go buy Frank's boat if he is trying to sell it. He takes really good care of it because he is retired and doesn't have anything else to do.
