When we (although apparently it is I) decided to purchase a new boat it was made with my family in mind. I have a question in here about the Weekender vs Sundancer (as a thread) as I could not decide at the time. I had taken my dad on a Salmon Charter and figured how many $1,000 trips do I need to take him on before I simply decide to buy my own, especially when he started talkin Marlin, yearly trips, and then different continents! I would like to do some fishing, but I also have a family that is more important and thanks to the advice of member here, I chose what made the most sense for me. Needless to say I discussed it with the admiral and I thought she was on-board with the idea of purchasing a larger boat. When the time came closer there ended up being a big argument, the if you can't realize my dreams vs we should pay things off argument. It boiled down to I'm gettin the boat ( I spent last year paying off over 10k of her "mistake" so now it's my turn kinda thing). After that I realized, I'm a Scorpio (not to be confused with a scorpion) which is a water sign. She's a capricorn which is a Earth sign and therefore our opposites attract, I keep her fluid, she keeps me grounded sorta thing. Now I'm not a pro in this stuff, but it's fun so I was wondering; who on here is what sign and is there an abundance of water signs that are boat owners? Like the term water baby, how many are water signs and how many are earth signs and going against the cooky astrologists? Both my kids are fire signs and my daughter is so excited to get a new boat she's been wearing her lifejacket aroud the house for 2 weeks!

Disclaimer:
This is for fun, don't be too harsh I'm not crazy!!:smt101

1985 Sundancer 270 w/ twin 8's. I can't believe how nice it is for the year (and $). Didn't want the 2'itus so we went around 11' instead lol (current boat is titled as 17'6 new to us is 29'2). I wanted a '85-88 270, now if I can just get my surveyor out of the friggin hospital with food poisoning I'll have the deal done (was schedueled for tues. this week now is monday next week :smt013).

I think it has less to do with astrology and more to do with X & Y chromosomes.
I can't believe that this is the first thing that your wife did a 180 on! This is practically a daily occurance in my house. As I write this my wife is babbling about a rather large sum of money we lent my brother on a short term loan so he could buy another commercial building. He just happens to have a liquidity issue but, has the assests needed. She was fine with it last week but woke up today......you guessed it, totally opposed to the idea. I just tell her this was a discussion for last week!! All I hear now Whaa Whhaa Whhaa!!!

Most couples fight over money. When I read the first post I was wondering if you were gonna go new. I later saw you bought a 24 year old boat and should owe little to no money on it. That's reasonable. Personally I hate debt.

A boat just like a camper is one of the best family purchases you could make. If more people had them the world would be a better place. Your only issue will be now if your wife wants to go on the boat. And if she does, will she enjoy it or not. Good luck joe.

My wife was the biggest advocate for getting a boat. Initially it was me pulling back because I did not want one more thing everyone disappeared on me when it was time to clean or take care of.

Now I can not sneek out of the house fast enough on a pretty day to go wash the boat or tinker around on board. Which reminds me I need to fix that darn squeak in the front door!!

BTW, Aquarius here..........

I'm a Capricorn and love the water. I don't subscribe to that stuff so much, but do know that the most important sign, is the one that says :

I'm a Leo. Cats generally don't like water.

I've never put much stock into all that zodiak stuff...

I hate debt too and there shall be no financing though that was not the criteria for what I wanted, just love them classic SR's. Maybe it's a childhood reference or something cause these things were new when my family first got into boating. She loves our little 18' bow rider, it was her demand that we spent every sunny day on it last year, and I thought she was excited about this one, oh well. This is not the 1st thing we have ever argued about or the 1st time about $. She tried to do it herself a little over a year ago, hence the 10k mess I had to clean up :wow: now she says she can't handle it and just take care of it and let her know what she can spend. Maybe she's nervous about being on a lake that you couldn't swim to a shore from any place on it, who knows? Anyway, I just happened to make the connection thought this would be a fun little topic.

I guess I'm lucky because when we first started talking about getting a bigger boat (we had a 330 then) GW ("Galley Wench") was all over it. She's an Aires and I'm a Scorpio, and I don't have a clue how those two interact, but I do know we both enjoy the boat and both of us are completely relaxed when we're aboard.

If we don't spend some time on the boat at least every couple of weeks we both start getting antsy. If that "no boat time" gets to 3 weeks (like now when it's only 18 degrees) we get downright irritable.

GFC and GW

I thought it was the year of the Rabbit?? oh, I'm so confused... my day will be totally messed up now... wait, I don't believe in this crap. ;)

My admiral is a Leo and loves the sun. Lot's of it. She bought our first boat so she could sun bath on it.
She found Old Skool and had to have it too. Open back deck for plenty of sun. She will tan on a secluded beach while the kids and I play with the boat. She loves to cruise rather than go fast.

I'm a Pisces and have always been drawn to the water. Helps that my dad was a Navy man. I like to go fast to her wanting to go slow. (Opposite attraction thing I guess.)

I don't put much into astrology but its pretty close on this one.

Don't put much cotton into the whole astology thing, but have a piece of advice. Name the boat after the Admiral. Worked for me!

I am a Libra and my wife is a Capricorn. No clue how they meld with each other. In thinking about this, I've renamed her sign The Clamp. She can rub Lincoln's beard off a penny and is right there to "remind" me of the pitfalls of every expenditure. Except when it comes to boating. I am a very, very lucky man. At the boat show yesterday, she asked me what the payment would be on a new Sundancer. I told her "too much". She's been calculating every angle of money management and financing ever since. Help!

Now there's a keeper, no matter when she was born!

Went to the Detroit boat show to look at a bigger boat (her idea), found out the cost, now the 200 is OK with her.

Venus and Mars, Venus and Mars people..........

Amen, brutha!

NASA did discover evidence of water on Mars, right? Maybe that explains it?!?!

It was the opposite for me and my crew...
I was dead set on an '05 340DA, she was dead set on the '06 40DA.

Guess who won? Losing is not always a bad thing!

What the heck is a water sign?

Brilliant! Although I offered her the chance to name her, I am not looking forward to re-naming her and all that comes with it but the "Suzzie P" isn't gonna cut it, apparently the last guy named her for the admiral as well because before that it was Nickelodeon, and now he's supposedly selling because she doesn't like the water. She claims she'll be excited when it gets here, just doesn't like the process of buying things. She wasn't involved the last few cars I/we bought or even when I bought the house! Guess she needs more direction than others .
