Abc news poll 2/3 of americans don't have a problem with the security at airports. I think the 1/3 of americans who dislike are on this forum. Have a great thanksgiving and better safe then sorry.

That's because 2/3 of Americans don't fly on a regular basis. They are sheep that think TSA is actually doing something.

Twomad, you never shared with us how often you fly Care to give it up? Be honest....if you can.
 
Please tell me why norcalboater and sfergson can't have a normal conversation with anybody with out being jerks. Do me a favor and learn to act like adults instead of a couple of 5th graders.

No! It is only profiling id you check a Muslin between the ages of 18 & 42 or a woman with a burke on because we all know you can't hide any thing under that but those white women with big breast and tight clothes now those could be nukes under that tight sweater!
Oh yea I don't ever see one"of color" in any of the pictures with The TSA fondling Them!

I don't think liberals are the only ones who reference polls that paint false pictures and can't tolerate push back.
 
I hate getting patted down at the airport and I get picked at "random" frequently (6'-4" 300+lbs, lots of tech gadgets and a cpap in my carry-on). I see the searches as my duty to help ensure the safety of all so I don't complain.

My personal opinion is that until we as a country start checking 100% of air cargo all these security updates are really just window dressing.

Why are Scott and I the jerks? You have been tossing out comments about others being Tea Party members, and unpatriotic without basis and yet you can't even defend your stance. You don't even see that you are the one that appears to be the jerk.

If you answerd the question I posed to you and said you have flown 4 times in the past year, for example, my thought and response would have been, "Huh, this guy has been there and is entitled to his opinion." But when you spew comments from your a$$ it becomes difficult to give any credence to anything you say.

I asked you a question a week ago about your patriotism. You talked about your abhorance of the events of 9/11 and then declare you are against racial or ethnic profiling. How can that be possible? And come to think of it you have not answered one of the questions posed to you. So one can only conclude that you are not capable of formulating a coherent answer because you are either stupid or clueless.

I hope you are a really good boater because you really suck at understanding current affairs.

Maybe they should be more concerned with people climbing into the wheel well of a plane. If this is true and judging by the description of the body I’d bet it is, shows just how good TSA is at protecting the flying public.

Twomad, I too would like to know how frequently you fly since I do virtually every week and have three problems with the full body scanners. First, they take much more time since I have to empty my pockets including my wallet. Two, there are safety questions about frequent exposure to the backscatter X-rays these machines use. Not an issue if you fly 2 or 3 times a year but 40+ round trips a year, means I am exposed to 80 or more doses of radiation annually. Third, these machines can detect only hard concealed objects not the most common type of explosives that terrorists are likely to be carrying. So, if these units and pat downs would truly make travel safer, I would say Ok, but they don't, which is why I and many others have real issues with them along with the multi-billion dollar price tag for the deployment.

All great points. I travel as much as you (United 1K) and truthfully I would rather go through the scanners. I have 2 knee implants and when I go through the scanner it sees my knees and sends me on my way. With the old metal detectors I was given the wand and patdown every time.

My main issue is the crack leadership at TSA implemented the new procedures before all of the new scanners were in place and manned. My home airport does not even have the scanners as of last week so I go through the old metal detectors and the next thing I know, I've got some guy in pink gloves who couldn't get a job as a greeter at Walmart groping my package.

As I said before, just the fact that we are having this discussion and controversy illustrates the bad guys are winning. We have had to change our standard of life when we should be changing theirs.

An easy solution, anybody who wants to fly safe and not worry about bombs, etc go thru the required security on the left, anybody who doesn't care about flying safe go thru the line on the right, no waiting ,no scanning,no pat downs, just walk right on the plane and make sure you bring your own pilots,etc. Would that make you guys happy? to me it's a no brainer and we shouldn't be having this conversation

One of these so called polls asked 2or 3 leading questions about security nd terrorists right before asking about the machines. Do you suppose the reponse would be different if privacy and Constitutional search questions had been asked before? The stateist media got the answer it wanted.

I think this is an opportunity for someone like Netjets to step up and offer a service... on a large scale... You get profiled and become member of a "club"... Private planes and private runways...

Private shared jets are continuing to gain popularity as time is often more valuable than money.
