Looking for knowledge and opinions on a 400DB

I found a good example of one that might have some moisture issues:

WOW :wow: do you know what happened there?

No idea. I was doing a google search for pictures of Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge and found it on ********.com. A few people asked about the details but there were only smart ass responses.

Alex,
I'm not sure what your decision will be but I saw one on this repo site:

It's a 2001 40 Sedan Bridge. For some reason the link to the direct page only brings you to the site index.

You may be able to get it on the cheap!

Thanks Todd,

This boat has some "interesting" choice of colors. I saw it but didn't know it was a repo. I would prefer to stay away from repos unless it's very cheap.

If you find something else that might look like a good deal, please let me know.

Thanks,
Alex.

Does anyone know what's the deal with the shifters/throttles? I see some models 1999-2000 with similar engines have old type of plastic handles and some with newer golden knobs. It looks like all newer models, including some 2000s have golden knobs.

Are there any mechanical differences or just the handles design?

No mechanical difference.........Sea Ray just chose a different style of panel control.

If you don't like the older style, then it is an easy change since the cables are the same. The owner of the 400DB I told you about in Fla had this done when he bought his boat.

That's a great news I was hoping to hear, Frank. Would you know how much this change might cost, just approximatelly?

Ok, but if I find a boat I like and if it has the older shifter I'd like to know what's involved in replacing those. I have no clue what those shifters cost, $500...$1K or more . Obviously, the old shifters is not a show stopper, but it would be nice to know my options.

You could put some of these shifter knobs on

I kinda like this combination...

I didn't realize "knob choice" was a selling point on a boat...

Guess I'll have to come up with some cool ones for this weekend at the "secret gathering"
