Official Searay 200 Thread

Big Pete,

Hi and welcome to CSR. Nice looking boat you have there, also. Interesting backdrop with it being in a pool. I had to do a double-take on that one!

Enjoy your Sea Ray!

Crose,

Hi and welcome to CSR! Looks like you have a real gem there. Nice looking Sea Ray. I know you will enjoy here. Been through Eau Claire many. many times. Nice part of the country. Where will you be boating?

Good Luck!
NCC, aka John

Hey John, thanks for the welcome. Most of my boating is going to be on Lake Wissota up in Chippewa Falls but I may head over to the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" too since I am a native Minnesotan. Chris

69rrvert,

I like your taste in boats...indeed, it is the twin to my Sea Ray. I wandered over to where you are showing the rebuild of the interior. Too bad the previous owners let it fall into such disrepair. You really are breaking her down, and building her back up on the interior! It's interesting to see what is behind and under everything in the interior.

Good luck with your restoration! I am sure you will love your Sea Ray. I know we certainly love ours.

John, thanks for the welcome. If I can get mine to look 1/2 as good as yours, I would be happy. Here are a few things that I noticed as I cut the floor and rotton wood out of my boat. Not sure if you want to look at these areas on yours as places for water to get under the floor.

1) The screws that hold the trim pump down to the floor and also the screws that hold down the battery boxes.

2) There are screws in the sides of the stringers that hold the wiring harness for the fuel tank sending unit, hoses, and the brackets that secure the fuel tank.

3) All of these screws breach the water tight seal of the fiberglass and over time water will get through. Once water gets through and on the outside of the stringers, there are no drain holes in the stringers for the water to get out and into the bilge. It was pretty much doomed at that point. I could step on the floor where the battery boxes were and water would squirt out of the holes.

4) I noticed that while the engine was running, the exhaust had a water leak where it bolts to the bottom of the outdrive. I believe this took out the wood in the transom as it is exposed around the edge of the big hole that was cut for the outdrive.

5) The fiberglass in the bottom of the ski locker apparently got worn through which allowed the wood to get wet and rot the bottom of the locker out out.

If you need some pictures, take a look at my rebuild link in my sig. I am tryng to document everything as I go. Kinda the way I am looking at it, these older boats were pretty much doomed from the factory since they are the ones that installed all of the screws. Once I have the new floor glassed in, I am going to glass another piece of 3/4 plywood on toop of the floor in the areas of the trim pump and battery boxes. This way, I will screw into that piece pf wood and not breach teh floor. If you have any questions, let me know and I will try and get you an answer. One thng I have noticed from the iboats forum is that a small soft spot in the floor turns into a major repair. Thanks, Steven

I guess its time for me to join now that i actually remembered to take a few pics this last weekend. Shes a 1994 200 Signature BR, She has the 5.0, Alpha 1 outdrive and only has 135 hours. I have more pics but havent gotten them off the camera yet. Im ordering a wakeboard tower for it next week and hopefully some trim tabs. We will see what the boss says after the order of the tower :smt021

It's an '06 200 Select. It's pretty much loaded including Merc 350 Mag, Corsa Captains Call Exhaust, Sport Tower, Dual Batteries, and Upgraded Stereo

Seaflash, she is MAGNIFICENT!!!! What a looker! I bet she goes like a bat of of heck.

I splashed Old Skool today. Total ran out great. She's a classy gal for 34 years of age. The rest of the day was not so good. Got rained on then my trailer tire blow out on the ride back home. Oh well a bad day boating is better than a good day working.

Thankyou. Yes, she's a little hotrod. With the 350 Mag she leaps on to plane. I was reading all the posts about Smart Tabs and was wondering if they'd help on this boat, before I drove it. They might help with the ride but the boat definately needs no help getting out of the hole. I've seen 52.4 on gps with full fuel, gear, and 2-people. I love the sound with the Corsa exhaust open. Makes it feel like you're going 20 mph faster!

Just sold my 2007 200 Select - good news is I got close to what I paid for it when I bought it new - but hate to see her go. Great boat, and lots of family fun time.

Hey guys im new here to this site and i am a young owner, im only 23 years old and i came across my 200 cuddy on craigs list. it was a freebie, which is an awesome start for me since i just bought a house and money was a little rough but here is some info on the boat itself the interior was pulled apart and the guy before me had made some stained wood panels for it and installed some new carpet but he really didn't have any idea about working on the motor itself so when i got it home i checked over a few things and what i came up with was that it needed head gaskets. so my plans are to get the motor up and running and redo the interior. but as of right now its just sitting cause im working on the house. but comments please let me know what you guys think any comments or suggestions would be awesome thanks

Hey gang, been a while since I posted on this thread. Check out my profile restoration pics of Old Skool. Sad thing is that the floor got soft this year. Not looking forward to the winter project of replacing it but it's a hobby so alls well.

Thanks guys. I'll be askin' lots of question since I am a complete and total newb. =)

SF Giants Fan-
Let us know where your upholstery work was done, we live in Sacramento also and were very impressed! Sent you an email, but you haven't answered.

Thanks

I am told it's original. They have some wear and small tears that we're repaired but are in great shape.
