Boat Info
2007 sea ray sundeck 260
Engines
6.2liter merc b3
keep in mind it is end of august in new york...and i am in no rush to get boat (but looking for 24 foot- 26 foot sundeck....used)

1) 24 foot 2008 sundeck with trailer (dont really need it as i want to dry dock her) with huge 6.2L engine, wake tower, underwater lights, mint condition. 70 hrs - 47k (out of state with broker)-no warranty

2) 26 foot 2007 sundeck (260) with 300hp 350mag engine bIII. also mint condition. 100hrs, local/private owner. will let me continue his dry dock for rest of year. 45k (has windless anchor too)- no warranty

3) 22 foot (too small i think) new with 260 5.0L engine new 47k with 5 year warantee on engine

4) wait til season here about to end or ends (better deal around corner)- boat shows/etc.

wanna use boat for 2 adults/2 kids with another family moderately. fishing, beginner wakeboarding/tubing. Wanna be able to cross long island sound to ct.

and assume on options 1 and 2 complete sea test and marine survey

Option 1 for $42K. Same LOA as the 260 with a better engine. I speak from experience -- the 260 is nice but the 240 is an awesome boat.

I have never been on any of the boats mentioned (at least underway) but they are beautiful. I would say Option #2 More boat for less money and the remaining dry dock could equal the value of the trailer you would get with option #1 depending on where it is.

Granted it does have a smaller engine but we are talking about a 20hp difference here between the 350MAG and the 6.2.

Option 1: you say you don't care about the trailer but I miss not having a trailer when I want to take home the boat or do work that the marina will not let me do like Bottom Paint/Shrink Wrapping or having an outside mechanic look at the engine.

Also, getting the same LOA with better engine.

Just to clarify The 2008 240SD and 2007 260SD are both 24' boats. You get the extra 2'4" when you add the swim platform. So LOA is 26'4" for both boats. IHMO they are great boats with different options. How important is the wake-board tower versus the windlass. Do you want to check out other bodies of water, if yes then a trailer is a must. etc, etc. Have you had a survey done on either one? What kind of maintenance records, etc, etc.

Our 2008 240SD was an awesome boat. Chuck is spot on, same length as the 260. You are NOT getting a bigger boat with a 260. Stronger stringers and aft hardware for bigger engine configurations, not a bigger footprint. As for the 2004 270, I wish him luck. Must be a very nice boat.

hope he gets the asking price!! (right Chuck?) :smt001

You got that right. Mine is still for sale:huh: I guess because I'm so far away from everything all I ever get are low ball joke offers.

Not being familiar with the Sundeck market I have no idea if my buddy's boat is priced right. I'm guessing by the comments he is wayyyy overpriced at 40K?

thanks for the responses guys....

first off the guy selling the 240 sd w/ wake tower is down to 47k from 53k.....

second, how is the loa same on both boats...the 260 is 26 foot boat plus about 2 foot platform...while 240 is 24 plus 2 foot platform...confused

Who told you the 2007 260SD is a 26' boat? The 260 and 240SD at that time were the same boat. Searay would not put the big block engine in the 240SD so they came out with the 260SD.

Does #1 have a bravo 3?

The 260 has a molded platform and its LOA is 26' (including the molded platform) and the 240 is 24' with a 2' bolted on platform for a LOA of 26'. The layouts are very similar and the square feet of cockpit space is the same.

The '07 260 and '08 240 both look like they have bolt on platforms but either way the specs list them as having the same overall length.

wow, you guys are great...did NOT realize they were the same size....i think i read somewhere that the 260 is much heavier? which one has a deeper hull (better ride in chop?)

also to throw into the mix...i can get my hands on a sundeck 230 like new but w/ b3 260 5.0l engine only. so tempting. ...for 35k.

what u guys think...? it also has the sunpad in back that the earlier pre 2010 240's and up dont have
