Hit a huge log – what would you do?

Are you back in the water yet? I am interested to see how the 4 blades work for you.

It is being put back in the water this afternoon and the marina Service Manager will sea trial it tomorrow morning when hopefully everything will check out ok. I won't be able to get to the boat until Saturday to try out the new 4 blade props. But I will post my impressions and Smartcraft data on a separate post.

Rod,
The props were factory 320 OEM 18x19 LH and 18x18.5 RH Nibral. If you want them you are going to need a welding torch and some Nibral welding material!:smt043

Boy Alex, I had to read back in this post to see that you are almost finished getting your boat repaired... Great! I guess you will be back in tomorrow... I plan on replacing my starboard water pump and doubling up on my FWC hose clamps... Thanks for helping me finding the coolant leak on Sunday...

COOLANT LEAK? Geeze Rod! Shoulda done the ceremony!

I'm glad I was able to help Rod. It's a graet feeling to see temp go from 220 down to 170 (while the engine is running) :smt038

I'm very happy to report back with great news, Boat A Bing is back in business. After running around 5+hrs of driving between marina-propshop-home-marina and a day off I installed the props back. Ray, the owner of Atlantis Props is great. He helped me out like true professiosnal, fixed the prop in on day. It was a good call to do a short haul, b/c I was able to do some touch ups and fixed a small chipped gelcoat spot under waterline. My marina manager is awsome, he helped me big time by arranging th quick and proprly timed hual out. I did a few test runs and my baby is running to the specs with no vibration. Now I wipe the cold sweat off and call it a done deal. I didn't get lucky to hit the damn thing, but I did get lucky to have minimum damage. Boy, those nibral props are strong to tak such impact and bent just a little. I'm impressed. Lesson learned and I'm looking forward for mor trips this summer.

At this time I'm looking for a spare props and the prop puller. I want to get 4 blades props and use mine for spares. I guess, it's better to post it in a different thread.

Thanks,
Alex.

Rod,
I can offer a really great deal on these, see post 13!

Bob,
That's a jaw dropping picture of your old props. Man, sorry to see that.

Those 4 blades are exactly what I'm looking for. What did you pay for them (I know you layd out just the differnce, but what's the total cost for them)? I was quoted ~$1800 for both.

The price through the prop shop used by my marina for the Michigan Wheel DQX 18x18 Nibral props is around $2,500 for the matched pair. I am sure there is some mark up in this price between the marina and the prop shop but I do have someone to go back to if there are any problems or they need to be adjusted. Also these are a new design for this year from Michigan Wheel and are probably a little more expensiive than last years model which they still sell.
