Has anyone here replaced their windshield gasketing? There is the channel around the base of the windshield that has a black (I assume neoprene) gasket inset over the mounting screws. Mine was either installed poorly or more likely has shrunk in the last 10 years. I was looking to see if any of you have done it, where you got your seal, which seal it was and any other pertinent info.
I did find this:

Thanks.

I called Taylor Made directly and they were able to tell me how much I needed and the style to use. I had the foam originally and replaced it with the newer rubber gasket material.
Fit perfectly, and I think it was around $90.
The person I dealt with was very helpful..

Thanks. I think I'll do that. Simple enough.

Todd, I just bought enough to fill the ends where it had shrunk and pulled away.

I think what you are describing is called "screw cover" and Taylor has it. Easy install.

Not sure how somebody got it for $90. I replaced mine last year and it was almost $200 if I recall. Taylor charges some ridiculous handling charge of $50 or something like that...

From a similar thread in March:

"I replaced mine last summer. I called Taylor and told them what year and model I had and they quickly sorted out what I needed and how much.

I bought 34' for $125 +$15 shipping +$25 Handling fee.

Was an easy install. Mine had the old foam type screw gasket so it is nice to have new rubber in there.

Just got the new rubber put in the channel. Bought it from american marine parts and it was $65

Todd, got mine from Taylor made also. After removal I cleaned the screw head area with simple green, then I pulled all the screws one at a time applied silicone in the hole and on the screw threads and reinserted screw. If you have the gasket off you should do this, water does sit in that channel even with the gasket.

Good idea. I will do that for sure. Did you have to buy about a mile of the stuff?

I just fixed the forward Taylor hatch on my 1990 390 EC. I removed the old gasket material from the hatch lid, cleaned the residual sticky material and applied the new gasket. It was simple and easy. The material was expensive because of the items noted in the previous posts...$25 handling and $10 shipping on a $32 order. Ouch! I did like waht I got and it fit perfect.

Oh well....marine grade, I guess.

Just ordered mine from Taylor Made. The 1994 370EC uses two different part numbers:

8349030 @$3.70 per foot (I ordered 14' which is 1' longer than spec) =$51.80
4110016 @$5 per foot (I ordered 17' which is 1' longer than spec) =$85.00
Tax & Shipping= $45.00

So my total was $181.80.

I spoke to the people @ American Marine after reading the post by shdw134. They actually manufacture windsheilds for some of the other boat mfrs around. The screw cover runs $2.00 to $2.40 a foot depending on the width of the opening you're covering. The only additional cost is the Fed Ex shipping. I am going to measure mine this weekend and give them a shot. I think it's going to run about 1/2 the cost of Taylor and work just as well. I'm not opposed to spending the $$ for the correct stuff and I think this will be. I will buy Taylors if this doesn't work, but I get the feeling they are doing a little price gouging or "getting a nickle too greedy" as I like to call it! Todd

Mine had also shrunk. I called Taylor and gave them the model and year of my boat. That sent me a small sample piece for free and it was all I needed to "complete" what had shrunk away.

If you replace the whole thing, I would cram as much as you can in there. Because it a few years, it will shrink and be too short again.
